Gotta write a 6 page paper on a "contemporary moral issue."

Any suggestions?

(examples: business ethics, human rights, abortion, euthanasia, death penalty, environmentalism, animal rights, etc.)

NOTE: The above topics are examples and cannot be used for my paper.

Some ideas that I've come up with that I can actually do: violent video games, censorship, socialism.

how about "media bias" that should work

Good one!

And with the election just having passed, I'm sure I'll be able to find many "scholarly references" for either point of view.

Inefficiency of Modern Morality.

Everyone wants to hug and kiss these days rather than fight a war.

Because I have to rationally argue both sides, and there is no rational argument pro-marijuana.

It's just like the Ammunition Accountability thing. If it's legal and the government can regulate it, then it'll be easier to keep kids safe and far from abuse than shoving health classes down their throats.

Except the right to bear arms (arms and ammunition go hand-in-hand as far as I'm concerned) is entrenched in your constitution, the "right" to partake in self-destructive and socially harmful activities is not.

And how would you argue pro-media bias?

Also, as far as marijuana goes, either it should be illegal along with more harmful products like cigarettes, or they should all be legal. Just because there's a big tobacco lobby and not a big pot lobby doesn't validate the distinction. Marijuana is less addictive and less harmful than cigarettes, but because it was a symbol of the counter-culture, the "system" refuses to legalize it.
