Post How can I make a website?
For you web developers out there how do you make a kick ass website like n00bfest??

I have no experience and tried to find a good place to start but kind of got lost.

I have Dreamweaver CS3 but got overwhelmed with all its functions and stuff.

I'm making a gaming website
All I really want is a nice front page with maybe a ventrilo monitor on it

Where should I start? What program should I use?

If you want to actually hand code it/mod some parts and just generally know how shit works, start by learning HTML from there read into PHP and CSS.

As for a site like n00bfest, it uses phpNuke for the homepage (you can probably get a vent monitor), and phpBB for the forum, which is basically installing a script, no coding knowledge is necessary.

I'm sure others will provide more insight, as I'm tired right now.

HTML is pretty much where to start. but if you want a user friendly program, try frontpage. you can do pretty much anything you want as a newcomer to web building

Start with page sources and work backwards. Best way to learn is by breaking things.
