And this type of law is bad HOW? It doesn't affect your ability to go and get guns and shoot things. It simply hold people more accountable for their things.

What exactly is this supposed to accomplish?

If the ammunition is stolen before it is legally sold then the information is hardly of any use, right?

I always thought a better way to keep track of handguns is to catalogue the unique engravings they make on bullets either before or after the sale of a handgun. Apparently the technology to do this is not accurate enough to be of help.

If I'm wrong then correct me on this. If someone stole your ammo then used it on someone. Wouldn't that lead it back to you instead of the person who actually used it? I agree with vision. The physical uniqueness should be used since it is like a finger print for weapon.

Just curious, which would be more valuable, knowing the gun that shot the bullet (which likely is not traceable, or who bought the bullets? What about all the older ammo in circulation. Crooks are stupid, but if I were planning something, I sure as heck would make sure I used a stolen gun/untraceable and ammo that was pre tracking efforts.

LOL, when I think about gun crimes I think of black people in the projects who don't have internet or pay attention to the news so at least some of them will never know that the bullets are traceable.

Seriously though like I said, all this does is prevent someone from buying bullets from a legit dealer. All this does is give illegal dealers the chance to make more money.
Now they can stock up on the old ammo and charge a premium to their buyers. Now if you want to buy an illegal gun you have to buy illegal ammo too.

I don't know about you but I've always looked forward into making my own ammo. How are they going to regulate that? If you can shave off serial numbers on guns can't you just shave off these markings on the bullets?

Have the ability to trace ammunition is just another thing to F*CK up the tracing process. Like I said earlier, if a crook steals ammo from someone and uses it, now that person is on the radar. Add that to the fact that they steal the weapon from someone else entirely now you have two separate people completely unrelated that are now being tracked instead of the actual culprit. So I hope that explains where I am coming from regarding this issue. Now if you did something like in "Judge Dredd" where they have the ammunition tagged with the DNA of the firer when used, that would make a lot more sense and actually help with the process.

Also forgive me for actually using Judge Dredd in an actual conversation.

We don't need more laws and regulations on firearms and ammunition. Just enforce the existing laws.

Don't wanna read it. But does this have any effect on people who actually reload their own ammo?

lol, I didn't do it for once! Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_06

Thank you to the peanut gallery...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peanut_gallery

A peanut gallery is an audience that heckles the performer. The term originated in the days of vaudeville as a nickname for the cheapest (and ostensibly rowdiest) seats in the theater; the cheapest snack served at the theater would often be peanuts, which the patrons would sometimes throw at the performers on stage to show their disapproval. The phrases "no comments from the peanut gallery" or "quiet in the peanut gallery" are extensions of the name.

In the late 1940s the Howdy Doody show adopted the name to represent their audience of 40 kids.
