Still we have to do with the fact that most do not have their game updated therefor we have the server available in the version u start with when you first install COD.
The population in the server has boom dramaticly since We downgraded the server to client version 1.0.525 (server version 1.2) |

I don't know if it's that people don't know how to patch it (it's pretty easy to google) as much as they don't know that patches are available. The game isn't designed to look for patches or to inform you when there's one out. So you have to be actively looking to see if there are patches available (which apparently a good percentage of the people who play CoD4 don't). |

I try'd looking for the patches and it looked as if Infinity Ward hasn't gotten it's act together when it comes to patches and it's website...Looked amateur for a game studio.

mostly it has to do with activition only hosting patch 1.4 on their website (even though 1.5 has been out for a while)
most people wont want to download a patch from some 3rd party website when the game's own publisher hasnt released/hosted the patch the fact the game doesn't have an autopatcher, is its greatest downfall |
