I don't know how many of you, if any at all, are religious. I'm Catholic, but I'm not too religious really.

My mom says that if you don't go through the two years of Confirmation, you can't get married or some other type of ceremony through the Catholic church.

Is there any validity in this at all? I highly doubt it, but I do still have my doubts.

Like how some religious groups protest to ban abortion/use of contraceptives/family planning so all these babies go through baptismal ceremonies or whatever bull crap.

Speaking as a fellow catholic (that isn't too religious either):

Eh, technically yeah, you should get confirmed. I honestly doubt they would say no though if you weren't, you'd just be slightly frowned upon ;) .

ALOT more people would be killed if there wasn't any religion. It just seems like religion kills because there haven't been cases without it.

Religion isn't really bullshit. I does give people that have nothing the chance to beleive in something better. But really if they really wanted to maked them selves better they would get off their ass and do something about it but that also depened on the situation. but I'm durunk so I'm just rambling. I'd say do it, F*CK it and just get wed. But religion is BS.

Religion is bull shit because its harder to change someones faith /belif than someones opinion
wether there is a super being such as god
in otherwords.. people are less willing to be open minded about how the universe came to be

a pretty interesting movie to see
www.zeitgeistmovie.com (2:00:00)

well the first part anyway.. after the first part it starts talking how the government is corupt.. which has some validity... but thats a different beast/topic

Yea, my sister is marrying a Catholic now and she is having to do it right now in order for the marriage to be recognized by the church.

Religion and faith are not bullshit. The organization that represents them is.

yup, if you want to get married by the church, you must be confirmed, baptized, communion, all that....if not there are classes you can take before your wedding, but you would have to notify the church about a year in advance i think (or 6 mos.). i never got confirmed, not because i didnt want to, just never did it. so the whole getting married in vegas was easier...and definitely more fun.

good book if you are in any way religious, and are intersted in the evolution vs. intelligent design argument: "The Language of God" by Francis S. Collins

It's a double edged sword really.

Religion helped mankind to act civilized towards itself, but in turn worked too well and then turned us all back into mindless apes.

Also:

Catholicism is the worst. I want to punch the pope right in his Hitler Youth butthole.

I would pee on the Vatican if I wouldn't get mobbed for doing so.

I'm all for good morals, but don't come back and put a spin on everything to make it seem like everything was given to us for a reason and trying to relate stories written thousands of years ago that either predicted what would happen, or that somehow relate to today.

We live in a completely different time period in a completely altered world.
