I'm thinking of starting a website for high quality streaming video (not porn). The hosting provider for the videos charges $0.08 per hour of video served. I'm planning to serve in about 1/2 hour chunks.

Based on having a person staring at a page for 30 minutes, it is possible to get about $0.05 per page view in revenue from non-adult ads? Popup and ads in the video are acceptable.

Also is $0.08/hr a reasonable rate for streaming video at up to 1280x1024 resolution or would it be cheaper to get a dedicated server and set up the video streaming myself? Let's assume 25k views weekly and that each video is about 200MiB. Offering the files via bittorrent or any other p2p system is not an option.

Your eCPM with 25k views weekly (unique?) would probably be over 0.05, easily. I suggest putting AdSense on as well, they have good eCPC normally. is it 0.08/hr per viewer? or just per hour? If its per viewer, then I suggest getting a dedicated server.
