 GG steam It's been six weeks now since the community's purchase habits began driving the pricing of weapons in Counter-Strike: Source. As many of you have probably noticed, the price of the Desert Eagle has been increasing steadily and is now somewhat out of control. This is happening because the Desert Eagle is considerably more useful than the rest of the pistols -- purchasing one of the others is not a smart buy. We'll address this by making the Five Seven, P228, and Dual Elites more effective. The prices of all pistols have been reset to their previous defaults in preparation for this change.
LOL i like it completely backfired on their faces.

I know partially why it backfired... It was done on purpose, like madballers specing ability in funmaps.. I think the person said like 20 servers were restricted to nothing but a deagle to buy and you couldnt even hold glock/usp so unless you knifed it up, you bought deagle. and the servers filled up(kinda odd). They did that to show the flaw in the system and hopefully take that system under and get rid of it.

that, in my opinion was one of the most retarded things that steam could do, 80% of the people use the same weapons, steam should have F*CKING noticed that, so they wouldnt F*CK source up, but, no, whats new

It totally screwed the game. But it doesn't affect the Deathmatch server. You can whatever weapon you want as long as the admin doesn't restrict it.
