Stringray's barb = part of it's tail that can be shot out and act like a giant barbed bullet type thing.

I guess I always knew he would die from some animal related tragedy though. Just odd for it to be a stingray. I thought they were pretty clam and not so dangerous. Guess I was wrong and so was he.

And yes, stingrays are normally calm and not very dangerous but if provoked they can be lethal, as we see here.

It entered his chest, went through his ribcage, and puntured the wall of his heart,... He died on the scene but I don't think he died instantly.. Probably lived for about 30 seconds - 1 minute after the attack.

Stingray's are aggressive killers, they've been known to kill dolphins and even sharks with their barbs. They can kill small-medium sized people with one whip of their tails.


You're thinking of Manta rays which are more passive and MUCH bigger. When threatened, they can kill adults with their tails. Some types averaging 9 square feet (basically) in size.


This is what I've learned at least, it's possible I'm wrong but I'd researched the subject long ago. Pretty sure I'm right.
