After a talk with someone in the scouts server I had to start this. Royce Gracie has no chance of beating Matt Hughes. In fact, it will be embarassing. People who say he's a threat because he's never been beat in the octagon need to do their homework. Here's the breakdown:

Royce Gracie fought in UFC 1-5. During this time frame, he fought two, count them TWO world calss MMA fighters. The rest (10 total) didn't do much in MMA. Most never fought outside of their one show in UFC. The two great fighters he did fight were Dan Severn and Ken Shamrock (twice). Both of them would own Gracie now. After UFC 5, Gracie went 5 years without a fight. Since his comeback at the Pride 2000 Grand Prix he's 2-1-2. The two guys he beat? One is 2-6-2 in his MMA career, the other is 0-3.

I am fully aware that Royce Gracie is the best BJJ fighter in the world. There is no doubt in my mind that if it were a submission match, he would handle it pretty easy. But it's not. This is a sport where the one sided fighter gets owned. It's a very different animal than what it was 13 years ago. The guys Royce fought back then were all kickboxers who had no Ju Jitsu skills. That's not the case anymore. I'm sorry to say this is a payday fight. Gracie got 1.3 mil just to show up.

As for the rest of the night's card, I have opinions on that too.

Brandon Vera Vs. Assuerio Silva - Vera by submission, this guy will be the next to fight for the HW title, after Silvia vs Pitbull III
Mike Swick Vs. Joe Riggs - I'd like to see Swick win this one but I don't think it's going to happen, he's never fought a beast like Riggs before.
Diego Sanchez Vs. John Alessio - Diego ducked Alessio through most of his KOTC career. I hope he gets owned. Diego FTL.

All the undercard fights look boring outside of Jeremy Horn vs. Chael Sonnon and Alessio Sakara Vs. Dean Lister.

Hughes- he hax
Silva- this guy is a beast
Riggs- more expericnce
Diego- will win by submission

Royce Gracie is a well experienced Brazilian JuJitsu fighter. As long as Matt Hughes can stay on his feet he has a fighting chance, if it goes to the ground its over. Although Hughes is good on the ground he in no way compares to Gracie.

I would like to see Matt Hughes win over Gracie though!

Went as expected, great card. Showed 8 of the 9 fights and only one went to the judges. The new 155 class is gonna be awesome.

I havn't been following UFC since Shamrock left it.. But Jar... In your avatar, is the black guy pounding on an unconcious white guy? Cuz that looks F*CKING painful.

Shamrock never left UFC for long, he's foighting at the next PPV vs. Tito. And the Black guy (Quinton Jackson) had just slammed the Brazillian guy (Ricardo Arona) and knocked him out, then jumped on him and hit him twice before the ref stopped it. It's from PRIDE-Critical Countdown 2004. Jackson also happens to be one of the three guys to ever beat Chuck Liddell, and made him look just plain bad.

It's gonna be nasty, Tito's gonna destroy Shamrock. Really, I could care less about the fight. Shamrock's just too old. But AA vs Maine-iac 3 is gonna be awesome. And the next UFN show is gonna have Leban vs. Anderson Silva. Silva is a PRIDE and KOTC fighter who's a nasty Maui Thai fighter. And Chuck and Sobral is signed for UFC 52. The UFC is really gonna take off.

Didn't tap but he got Savagely beaten. John Allesio should've gotten the win, he was amazing defensively, spent 3:30 with Diego on his back and didn't go over.

I like them both but Shamrock has so much hate for Tito. He'll use that to win the fight.

Sickest shit I've ever seen is Shamrock twisting a guys ankle around twice (shattering it) and get his arm broken and continuing to fight with it.

Oh and when one of the Waynes Brothers called Gracie the Juggernaut that was some funny shit.... I laughed pretty hard!
