Yeah, it's pretty tough. Smirnoff tastes like paint thinner. Once you get into the better stuff, it's pretty good...but it's an acquired taste. Vodka usually mixes seamlessly with things. Orange Juice and Vodka is pretty good because it takes the edge off of the vodka. FRÏS vodka is one of the best straight vodkas you can drink (for the price). Skyy is a very good mixing vodka as well.
Smirnoff, though, is paint thinner for n00bs.
