I'm starting to think thw war on drugs is a waste of government money...I mean, it's not really decreasing any less. At all. We just keep putting money into it and losing the battles. I mean who hasn't smoked weed at least? And it's so easy to get. I'm starting to debate whether or not legalizing drugs would be a good thing. I mean, if we did. We could tax it and make money from it for the government. And I honestly don't think a HIGH percentage of people owuld start doing drugs since it's legal becuase of how black-listed it is in society. If they would legalize anything it would be marijuana. The best part if they did that tho. Is if weed was legal maybe less people would do the hard, addictive, illegal drugs so they can legally smoke mary-jane.

In response to spork: Legalizing drugs wouldn't be a good thing. You've got to look at it like Alcohol. There are plenty of people who drink. Hell, I drink. I don't drive while I'm drunk or after I've been drinking because I know what could happen, and it's easy as F*CK to tell that someone's been drinking if you watch their driving style. I made the drive from San Marcos to Austin (approx 30 mins) one morning, completely stoned off my ass from Vicodin (dentist) and it was the longest drive of my life. I thought I was going to die.

I think the only reason people don't drive as often while they're on drugs is because it's illegal to be high AND it's illegal to be driving while you're high...and most people don't care to do 5-10 in tiny's playhouse. I've been in the car when the driver was high. It can be pretty scary. One of the reasons I don't want to see drugs legalized is because people would be less afraid to drive while on them if it was legal to do 'em.

So Viva the war on drugs.

Yes, I completely agree with that. It is a lot scarier and harder to drive high. But I was simply stating if at least marijuana was legalized the goveernment could at least finally get some money from all the expense it takes and not really stopping. Other than the fact that its going to be an endless war. I really don't think it's ever a good idea to legalize drugs. It would drop the morals of our country so much.

Morals aren't important. Something can be accepted in one part of the U.S. and a major taboo in another. The government should legalize marijuana, but only in order to sell it cheaper than the illegal suppliers. This way a profit can be made as well as a decrease in the funding for the war on drugs. Legalizing marijauna won't mean that every person in the country will accept it right off the bat. It'll still be frowned upon by certain groups. If we were to legalize it, we would not be trying to get everyone to use it as willingly as they do alcohol. Because of this, laws would have to be made similar to the drinking laws today. They should have stricter punishments though, if only temporarily, to discourage the excessive use of it.

Wouldn't that solve the problem for drinking and driving? I'm not saying it would solve it completely, but it would introduce it into the country on the same terms as alcohol. This way, you can't say anything against it that you wouldn't say against alcohol too.

x=current cost for "war on drugs."
y=current revenu<sp> made fron fines ect...
a=possible<sp>tax revenu<sp again> from selling MJ cigs

if a > x-y then whats the problem??

Then you factor in cost of inmate up keep=q

a>x-y+q?

But subtract possible hospital cost from accedents=z

a>x-y+q-z?

Ok, i've been drink'n but my point is....The reason MJ is'nt legal is cuz:
1) Moral sandards
2) Possibale "gateway" drug.

I personally don't smoke anymore however I can tell you though it's different from drinking it's the same while behind the wheel. DON'T DO IT!!!!!

I was intrueged by an earlier post, caused teh math. i.e. I'm in favor of it.

DON'T DO DRUGS!!!!!
