I have no choice Taz, if you remember I was having back problems in Germany... Last time I went to Orthopedics here in Fort Sam, they told me I had the spine of a 60 yr old. So, I have to go into a whole new career field. Not to mention, I'm looking forward to living by the beach in St. Pete and studying while "taking in some scenery." Gotta love eye candy!

They're all made from cheap shitty components from southeast Asia. The people making the components for all the hard drives are the same -- it's just the people who assemble them who are different.

I am a medically retired Army veteran who now makes video games. I worked on Natural Selection 2 for two years, and will be working with Gooseman (The guy who made CS.) on Tactical Intervention. I'm also an electronic artist , and I'm working on my second full-length EP album. I'll be going to college in a couple months for either one (haven't really decided yet).

Is Gookman (sic) gonna change the version of the Source engine he's working with? The most recent screenies from Tactical Intervention I saw were like 5 years ago and looked like someone shook a kaleidoscope full of CSS low-res textures and then sprayed them with a can of Krylon.

He'll probably use the latest SDK, but there's no plans as far as I know to update the engine that's running the game. That would cause a lot of headache.

I manage a retail cellular store.
Its my way of being a tech geek, new cellphone about every 6 months.
Can't beat working in a great industry, and the fact that I have 10 people that make me money is great. Unless they don't, then I just crack the whip and those bitches fall back in line real quick.

How's the pay for that gig? I've always wondered, because I work my ass off for the type of work I do. And I think there has to be an easier way, but I can't find an easier job that can touch the money I make. AND I would love to be able to be more of a techy.

Re: what does n00b do for a living?
just finished a B.A. in Asian Studies and am gonna move to China to get the language down and start my own translation company with my buddy who's living in Houston. Just need like 2000$ for plane ticket and and living funds but I don't have a job. Someone told me you have to LOOK for a job before you get one, but CSS is so damned fun :( Plus i dont think i'll be able to play in China given their overall hatred of western internet freedom. Sighhh here's hoping!!!

Sighhh here's hoping!!! I'de move with a little more that $2,000 man. Considering tickets are about $1200 right now(and they have been for almost a year now.) You don't get those $650-$800 tickets very often these days. Plus you don't want a shitty airline. Most of the crappy ones only have a 7% chance of arriving at their destinations on time. Which means you miss your connector flight. Go Air Canada. $800 might be a lot in China, but it won't last you long if you plan on living there.

Re: what does n00b do for a living?
oh i have a job teaching already lined up so i make my livelihood upon breaching the country's borders. actually get to start off teaching university english in Hangzhou, a city of ~4 million peeps. I don't intend on leaving for a year and that would only be to visit neighbouring countries while visa is renewed. But ya i agree, 2000 is an absolute minimum. Just wish I had more motivation to get off my ass and make a couple bucks, i've been CSS'ing instead of working since graduation in may. Alas one cannot look to the past while attempting to take steps toward the future or some other gay shit like that
