Post Re: Starting P90x today!
I do have some stiffness in the muscles which does reduce my range of motion but my joints do hurt, it's cause I'm a heavy guy and they are not use to the pressure I am putting them under. I talked to my mom (go ahead and laugh) she is a nurse and she told me to stay hyrdated and take Glucosamine, she also said to keep going the more weight i lose the less it will hurt.

also I'm pretty sure pee is supose to be a light/pale yellow color... but after thinking about it more i bet it's only clear if you drink lots of water because there is higher water to waste ratio making it look clear... hmm I must discover what the true color of pee is..... TO THE BOOKS

I'm a nurse too, don't know if you knew that, your mom is right. I'm not laughing, I'd ask too! I left medicine to take a break with Disney and now it's been 8 years, geez! I'm going back to school soon to be a pharmacist.

Pee should be a straw color to clear, and yes, it's the water ratio. But when you are exercising like this, you need extra hydration to clear out all of the toxins and by products from your body. If you consistantly have yellow pee when you are exercising, you will risk kidney stones. This was taught to me in school and also at my job, where we use our bodies heavily in the 100 degree heat. I think I drink close to a gallon a day right now. Hydration also helps with soreness and fatigue.

How did yesterday go, other than locking up? I did 3 workouts yesterday, but I'm not doing bad this morning, surprising. Measurements and new pics today!

Pretty much what your mom and pinky said I would have said. My best guess is not enough water and not enough good fats in your diet which help lubricate your joints. You can either eat foods rich in good fats like sardines and peanut butter and/or start taking fish oil caps which are pretty inexpensive. What's important in fish oil caps is the amount of EPA/DHA. If it doesnt list these 2 on the nutrion label then find one that does. My fish oil supp has a EPA/DHA ratio of 216mg/144mg. When I take time off of exercising and start again I buy gallon jugs of water to monitor how much water I drink a day. If I don't drink the whole gallon then I need to up my intake until I do. But never drink a lot of water at once, it's really bad for you. Another supp that has helped me with old football injuries is called Cissus. It made my joint pain disappear but as soon as I came off of it the pain came back so I think it only helps with inflammation.

I've had water poisoning, and it's absolutely zero fun. Drink *a little* more water than you think you should, esp. if you're working out, but don't over do it.

Water intoxication is dangerous, but if you are just replacing what you sweat out, which is a LOT more than you think, you'll be ok. A gallon sounds like a lot, but if you are doing this program it really isn't.

So, I did the Yoga X DVD tonight. It was AMAZING. Not only did I manage poses I did not know I could do, but by the end I was so flexible I could sit straight out with my legs in front, grab the bottoms of my feet, and put my whole body down on my legs. I haven't done that in a million years. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I did P90X once; the yoga class is hard core compared to a normal yoga. 90 minutes is tough. And I thought pull ups would be hard.

Go Pink!!!

Update: don't bother if you do not lose weight right way, specially if you use to work out. You WILL be burning weight in fat, but getting it back as muscles.

i have no problems drinking lots of water but i know my limit. I currently have been taking a multi vitamins and Omega 3-6-9 which is basicly fish oil for the past 4 months. I can't have peanut butter or sardines because of my gf and her stupid allergies.

Other than the stiffness I feel pretty good. I'm starving all the time tho. Befor I started working out I was almost never hungry I would just eat cause I know I should. Now I am constantly hungry It's probabbly cause of what you guys said about not taking in enough calories for what I am burning.
Now I am craving a steak medium rare..... I can't wait for work to be over I'm gonna get ma steak... mmmmmmmmmm

STEAK. MMMMMM. Sounds delish! I am gonna have me some meat tonight too. Gotta have the protein!

YOU eat the PB and sardines! She's not gonna die if you eat them! Just make yourself a shelf in the pantry or cupboard. I take two vitamins, a multi and a B complex with extra C. Plus an antioxident Crystal Light drink. I just have to stay away from carbs, I love carbs! I only allow myself 40-50 g a day right now, so yeah, starving too!

I am eating whole grain (12 grain) bread, it's got more staying power. Just watch your total grams of carbs and fats. You will need carbs, but remember, you want weight loss so you should limit yourself to only 20% carbs in your diet right now. 50% protein, 20% carbs, 30% healthy fats.

I'm totally short, so I doubt I could kick your ass, but thx! I'll see what I can do about that pose in about 2 more weeks as my abs are fine, but not as kick ass as the rest of my results. :p

Biggest thing with carbs is to not eat heavy carbs like pasta and bread 4-5 hours before bed and not to have 2 heavy carb meals back to back. Those 2 right there will help you out a lot and you can start cutting your intake down from there.

Just like no one can just get out and run a 26 mile marathon on any given day, no one can drastically change their diet overnight. Make some gradual changes like the ones I listed and little by little read up on nutrition and start making more adjustments until you've reached your goals. For a guy it takes a lot of will power to drop to less than 100g of carbs a day, I really don't suggest anyone trying it right away. The rule of thumb is whether your trying to gain weight or lose weight you make subtle changes to your caloric intake over the course of a few weeks. First you keep a rough count of your daily caloric intake and then if you want to gain weight add a couple hundred calories a day or cut out 200 calories a day if your trying to lose weight. Either way you usually keep your protein intake high and adjust the carbs and keep fat between 10-20% of your diet.

Good points, Vision. We don't want anyone passing out during their workout or suffering digestive distress!

well I'm good for food mostly, the only thing is I do love my carbs (bread, pasta) so I will have to work on that but would there be any problem if I replace it with say salad or just veggies? cause i normally snack on bread or crackers, but i can change that out.

my major unhealthy thing is pop (soda for those of you who don't speak Canadian) i give it up every now and then but I always return to it.

I'm from upstate NY, like Rochester, lol, we say pop too! Just cut that out gradually or switch to no calorie stuff. I'm finding that Crystal Light or things like that taste good and make me drink more water.

Veggies you can eat as many of as you wish, and they fill you up. Fat free dressings if you MUST have a dip are ok, as long as you don't go overboard as they tend to contain a lot of sugar. Sugar = bad carbs. Dressings on salad, go for the non creamy ones or just use lemon and olive oil or vinegar and olive oil. There are a lot of flavored vinegars out there and studies have shown that vinegar is helpful for digestion and even weight loss.
