No method is guaranteed; everybody's different. But whether or not you changed is YOUR decision, and spanking your kids brings them back down to earth.

Teaching a kid that performing a specific action will result in a specific painful consequence should make them stop doing it..

If not, they are messed in the head, have some problem that makes them not feel pain, or enjoy pain.

Either that or you weren't hit hard enough.

Man remember i getting grand theft auto 3 like right after my 10th or 11th birthday :P. My parents could really care less. And im no retard, though some would like say differnt Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_03. I know the difference between wrong and right. The only people that actually do crazy shit are the ones who have something fucked up in their heads.

Not to burst your bubble too hard, but saying that is like saying, "I won the lotto the 1st time I played."

Just because it works or doesnt work for you doesnt mean its the standard for the average person.

Besides, for both of the arguments here;
Parenting is the number 1 factor here no question. You are a shatty parent, the chances you get a shatty kid are pretty high.

Not to offend any atheist's here, but a good adage from an old book is
"Spare the rod, spoil the child."

The only kids that violent video games can influence to do more violence are kids that already have the capacity for violence. it doesnt just develop they already are violent to begin with.
