I luv ya Kun_fu, but wow are you a F*CKING idiot! The NFL has the highest ratings of all sports in the USA, just the USA. Why? The sport is only played in the USA. The number one rated (t.v. ratings) in the world is soccer which should be no surprise. Take a guess what sport follows soccer world wide? Hockey! Most of Northern Europe, the Baltic States and Russia have professional leagues. They tried to have an NFL style league in Europe and it failed. The Olympics have Hockey but not Football and if you ask anyone has gone to the last few Winter Olympics the Hockey games are the hardest to get tickets for. So do us all a favour and think before opening your mouth! Especially since MASH reruns get better ratings then women basketball and Hockey gets national coverage.

Also you guys who don't watch Hockey have not taken basic physic's into account when it comes to hitting. Yes being tackled by a 250lb man while running as hard as he can will hurt. What you don't take into affect is a 200-225lb hockey player moving more then twice the speed on skates with more acceleration and greater momentum slamming you into a solid unmoveable wall with less padding. Hockey hits are far more punishing then football, not to say football are not but I have played both sports and Hockey hurts more.

But I love soccer so gota go with the others o this about soccer....but really stop showboating and move the game along only reason its penalized cause it causes the game to last longer than intended. Now soccer does same as sow boating but that's really only on world stage (world cup, european cup, ect) normal non important games unless its a hat trick they don't really celebrate how they usually do but soccer keeps going even if they are showboating the game continues while they celebrate.

I can't really comment on the athleticism thing since the only sport I'd qualify for is competitive eating, but it seems about as futile as arguing politics or religion. Everyone has their favorite, and will defend it staunchly. However I can comment on the outburst thing, since it's related to something we all do. Any activity you put effort into, and succeed in, gives you a rush. Some people can't hold it in, it's hard to hide their emotions. You see outbursts like that in anything, even video game competitions. It's part of the game, and it's retarded for them to penalize it so some people's feeling aren't hurt. Maybe next time work a little bit harder to stop the play.

Just my 2 million cents: I think the 3 big professional sports being discussed take a similar amount of physical prowess.

Football it depends on the situation: some guys are only on the field for defense/offense whatever but when they are out there they have to throw themselves into it completely because most likely the guy across from them is going to put his entire being into it(this is why F*CKERS get injured all the time, because if you aren't trying your hardest, someone else who is younger than you will step in and do it for you); Then there's the quarterback, who has to be SMART. You can be athletic(black) but if you're a F*CKING retard you wont stand a chance starting in the NFL.

Hockey: I've never played hockey except out in the street, but I've been to the games. Those F*CKERS move fast, take hits, and dance around-- all while holding a giant stick and chasing something the size of flattened turd. I can barely keep up with the game just watching it, actually being on the ice has got to be a shit-storm, especially in a sport where basically everyone is playing defender/mid/forward no matter what your position is supposed to be.

And soccer: Soccer blows my mind( I don't really mean MLS, but I've seen some world class play there more recently). Ever notice how those F*CKERS can make a soccer ball do whatever they want? WITH THEIR FEET? That shit is not easy, and you have to be pretty F*CKING smart to be able to play with people at that level: the game is in constant motion and you are expected to keep the ball, run for at least 45 minutes straight at a time and somehow get past the defender who just got 50 million bucks to come play for some Euro-douchebag. I play soccer, and without constant substitutions I can play at an adequate level for about the first 15 minutes and maybe 5 more minutes after half time. After that my brain and body are F*CKING mush and I might as well be on the sidelines.

And about the attitudes (which is how this all started.) A lot of people are just like that. Sports at this level are highly psychological(especially baseball). Players do stuff unconsciously to psyche themselves into the zone. I do this when i play CS by acting like a total douche. Football players do it by celebrating after what may look like a "nothing play" to you, but to them is huge because they haven't gained any yards all season or that was their first sack after a long drought, etc, etc. Soccer players do this shit too, if I was Torres and I finally scored a F*CKING goal for my club I would go insane. And I know hockey players do the same thing, they will talk shit about eachother while they are lost in the moment, and basically make enemies so they can literally beat the crap out of eachother later.

So african americans in the NFL aren't the only dumb F*CKERS out there, a lot of these guys are like that, like Lebron: Everyone gives him shit (and I did too, because he was playing against my dirky dirk and the mavs) but all of the dumb shit he has said was just something stupid he was telling himself out loud. Unfortunately for him, everyone turned it against him and it ended up psyching him OUT.

I have watched football and hockey and there are many variables in what you guys are trying to decipher.

The hits in football are neccessary......someone HAS to get hit for the play to end.....its one of those things that is a matter of time and is unavoidable.(Unless the offense scores every down, which has never happened) In hockey, hits only come from checking and trying to start fights, hits in hocky are usually self-defeating(power plays) and the team does not benefit from dishing out the hits.
Second, the degree of the hit is different as well. In football you run at the ball carrier and "tackle" him. This can cause alot of damage if the tackle is dirty or the player gets piled up on. However, flying on skates with a stick is far more intimidating and lethal than running/tackling somone wearing pads.
3rd. In football you are hitting someone to end the play or force a turnover, not every player is eligable to get hit or tackled. In Hockey it is fair game, every player stands an equal chance of getting hit just for being on the ice.
Finally, hocky players individually can dish harder hits caused by faster speeds, combo of stick/ice to fall on., but football players who carry the ball such as a running back, take MORE hits that are spread out over time and almost as damaging as a hocky-smash.
I would say both sports are equally dangerous, but i think the hocky player would hurt more for that one night of playing, but a football player most likely deals with more chronic injuries IMO.

Also IDC about soccer, but it is the WORLD's #1 sport (Football is only #1for us, NFLE failed in about 8 years in europe)
