Re: What is the future of CS?
It looks more like a Tom Clancified version of CS. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but to me, the pace and general mechanics of CS is just right. A drastic change might be good, but it might just as well be horrible.

I think if they just make CS with a new engine, we would all be fine. I hate what the source engine does to CS.

Re: What is the future of CS?
I hate saying this.. But I am getting older.. Even though I am not even 30 yet.. but the time of having a LAN party with 25 computers .. Playing CS all night..in my garage.. I don't see the young kids of today doing that anymore.. with the Internet .. I can't stand Cosele gaming like psp3 or xbox.. I need a mouse and keboread..
I miss a good all night LAN party..
But CS I am sure will be replaced at some point .. with new engine.. Like a relonch.. I miss a good VIP map.. I remaber playing it.. We should have one VIP map on the rotation...
Sorry I am thinking now all over the place.. I am getting sad think there will be a day off no more CS..
Never...

LAN PARTIES ARE THE BEST. Don't worry, I'm 17 and my friends and I have LAN parties all the time.

Re: What is the future of CS?
One of my biggest regrets is that I've never been to a lan party. In my younger days when I was playing CS 10 hours a day, it was my biggest dream. Maybe one day I will :(

Re: What is the future of CS?
My friends and I have them all the time, playing starcraft, css, and warcraft 3. So much fun. But yeah. If they don't relaunch CS with a new engine soon, the game's going to die soon in my opinion. I myself won't stop playing, and neither will the huge fans, but honestly the reg can be awful some times and getting caught on objects is super frustrating for a game that I actually paid for.

I think they need a new engine, one that's more up to today standards

Re: What is the future of CS?
I've looked at some videos of this T. I. thing acid talked about. I'm not so hyped up about it. I dont wanna hear "I'm dying... I'm bleeding" If the guy next to me is not at 100% health Driving in multi player? Using hostages as cover? Shooting over cover? Dogs? Having kill streaks that grant you grenades? LOL There is no buying anymore...there is only pre sets now which im guessing will have an interface to change(hello cod nice to see you here) I'm not trying to sound like a dick but it's too modernized to be considered anything near what avid players would consider a CS follower.
Than again i would have to play the game in order to really say anything but so far from what i've seen it's a no-no for me.

Re: What is the future of CS?
I posted something similar to this a while back ( viewtopic.php?f=2&t=38338...). Yes, this is still a lot of people playing CS, but the problem is this number pales in comparison to console gaming numbers, which is why we see less and less games that are exclusive to, or even available on, PC. For example, at this very moment there are 627,225 people playing COD:Black Ops on xbox360 (there were over 2 million when it was first released). While STEAM and PC games are a money maker, console games are the real target market. Can valve make a new CS for both PC and consoles? Of course, we saw this with L4D, L4D2, but I think the gameplay will always be created with consoles in mind. In my opinion, the best thing any FPS game maker can do at this point is to successfully bridge FPS and MMO with many customize-able character classes and specialties AND massive battles across larger playing fields with many "mini" objectives that can be completed at the same time in the same battlefield. This way, 10 people can work to complete objective A, while 4 players work on B, 8 perform C, etc. Until that happens we're really only talking about minor differences in graphics, guns and gadgets.

Enter Natural Selection 2, minus the MMO part and make it RPG. Sorry, but you just pretty much nailed the NS2 description right on. I'm going to get some recording done for NS2 and get a nice little ownage video going.
