Chris, do it while you arent tied down. Dont sink money into an apt, get a badass laptop and thats all you will need. I worked in mississippi after katrina for 8 months with no bills and no rent and i came back a rich man. Do it for a couple years until you get burnt out, find a decent job, buy a real doll and live man, just F*CKING live.

I would have to say a min of 120k before taxes, full bennefits package, housing stipend, moving cost covered. I would do this for 10-20 yrs before i think i would want to settle down ect.

wow all of that? already do it and more for less than 20k a year....it sucks when i hear shit like this, because the civies in the army NEVER shut up about it....

me: im 25, have a MS in IT Security, have over a dozen certifications, risk getting shot at where ever i go, must leave my family behind or have them suffer the hardships of moving with me, and i bust my ass for 20k a year...how about you?

asshat: im 20, have a BS in Computers and dont plan on going further, i have 4 baseline certifications for the industry, no family, no risk of getting shot, and i do the exact same job you do cept i cant get fired, and i cant work more than 8 hours on a non local/federal holiday for 150k a year!


i think thats why us Signal Corps guys are always so angry all the time, we only get paid a fraction of what were worth, and the army hires the civies to rub it in for us.

If you volunteer to join the army, you know damn well what you are getting into. I'm guessing most people don't join the army to become an IT guy. They join the army for some other reason and end up becoming an IT guy.

i only joined the army for the buttsecks....anything that came after that was unexpected.

An opportunity that came up shortly after I graduated was basically a help desk type position overseas for Halliburton. It was $80k + room/board for 6 months. I ataully wish i would have looked into it further since I never got an engineering job anyway :(
