Re: I think I'm in love.
let me put it this way... your equipment can (at least for me) make or break you as a gamer. as some of you know, i am also a musician. im looking for the closest experience i can get (a median) between audio recording and positional audio for gaming. i appreciate the razer idea, but due to the two DOA's i have received from their products i am done with their hardware products.
i may just go back to the fatality headset but with jacks instead of usb. they were pretty damn solid. i might also couple that with the sound blaster fatality championship edition pcie sound card for 199 to do my recording unless someone has a better idea for a sound card.
im still totally open on suggestions for headsets and sound cards though!

1) Something that can withstand some abuse. Cat playing with the cord, rolling over the cord with my chair, boom mic getting sat on, etc. 2) Not totally shitty sound/mic quality. 3) Comfy for >2 hrs.
I would easily spend $250 for a gaming headset that meets those factors. Good thing is, up to now, I've found that in the $60 Plantronics i'm using.
Best of luck in your headset search. exactly. thats always been my friggen problem. Its either uncomfortable or it falls apart easily. thats why i picked up the hd 202s and got a cheap desktop mic.

CHRiS wrote: Throwing in another positive for the hd555. Those things are wallhax on, vision are you sure you're setting it to headphones in the settings? Also, I sent in my old sennheiser pair (forgot model) and they gave me $30 as a rebate. the setting in CSS is set to headphones yes, but I've always had a problem with positional sounds. I hear people in places where they are not or I hear them coming too late. It's the main reason I suck so bad now because I really can't tell if someone is coming from the top or the bottom or the left or behind. It's really frustrating. I've tried everything to try to fix it but nothing has worked. I've given up at being badass at CSS now :( If other people have great success with them then I know its my setup because my headphones are awesome. The thing is it's only with CSS, all my other games work great. What soundcard are you guys using with your HD555s? Acid the HD555 are great for music, their considered entry level audiophile headphones. My problem with CSS is just a random one, sounds like other people have had great success with them.

Re: I think I'm in love.
I think problem is solved. I'll just get two different headphones. One for each purpose. It really seems like it's the only way to do justice to Sennheiser, as I DO KNOW they are HIGHLY respected, and their products are top-notch. I don't doubt that one bit. However, I could get the best of both worlds by just investing the right amount of money in the right product for that particular purpose, and feel better about it all. Now, for a sound-card that's got a reallllllllly low latency for guitar recording and includes jacks to plug in/out to recorder, etc.
Any ideas?

Re: I think I'm in love.
i have te megalodons, and I LOVE THEM!!!! sooo F*CKING comfortable, great F*CKING sound, 7.1 or 2.0 at the touch of a button, GREAT F*CKING QUALITY!! i also have the tritton axpc pro and the megalodons are infinitely better. also, the astro a40 headset alone is $200: http://www.astrogaming.com/products/det ... 0-Headset/i have heard amazing things about these, the two reasons i didnt buy them is that they dont have connections that work with my computer exceot for stereo audio jacks, they need either stereo 3.5mm, TOSlink Optical Cable, or there is another connection, but i cant remember, but i know its not 5.1, 3.5mm, which is really gay.

I had issues with the mic constantly cutting out on the megladon and having to restart it all the time. Also, i did have some issues with programs making the mic stop working. Did they resolve those issues? IF it weren't for those issues i'd kept mine. I returned it as defective cuz i bought them as soon as they were released last summer. Other than that. The only issue i had is the damn LED lights staying on with the pc off.

The only issue i had is the damn LED lights staying on with the pc off. yea, the lights do stay on when the computer is off but i unplug it when i turn off my computer. The mic gave me problems cutting out in skuype, but i unplugged it and plugged it back in and updated skype to the new version and hace no problems now. Also, the first megalodon i got, the 2 rear surround sound soeaker LEDs broke within 3 days, than the two mic buttons broke, but i rma'd it and this one works great. The razer support is wonderful, especially after dealing with tritton support , i will never buy tritton again. The worst support ever!! Ny mic broke, and i called them 3 times to get the mic replaced and each time they said they would ship me out a new mic, but only on the 4th time did i actually recieve a mic. Than, afyer recieving and testing the new mic i realized that this wasnt the problem and had to ship the whole thibg back, and after almost a month if waiting for my replacement, i called them and the guy said i should have recieved it already and he will check with his manager and get back to me in an email, after a few days of no email, i called again and this guy said they were waiting for a new shipment of headsets to arrive before they could send me 1. Wtf. But finally i have a ups tracking number and tge new headswt should arrive thursday, tritton F*CKING sucks
