i dunno i kinda liked the materia system, though the sphere system is pretty neat too, especially with the teleports.

sure graphics wise VII < X+

but story wise... i dunno i liked VII's sorty best... though it might just be like a girl loves her bf that helped her lose her virginity as well...

(as i mentioned before VII was my first real rpg)
