I hate the thought of organized religion. I do not believe we were placed here as we are, and no evolution occured. That is retarded. Hello people who think the bible is all knowing, dinosaurs did exist. Where the hell does that come into play? I think creationism did happen, but we evolved no doubt. I don't see how we could have all came from one organism, because all of our gene structures from other animals are so different it seems almost impossible that everything evolved from one organism.

Dinosaurs are actually mentioned in the Bible..

And, a recent study showed that all humans share one common gene. We all share common ancestory.

Evolution says we all EVOLVED from micro-organisms in the oceans. Not that we came out of nothing. There are debates saying we may have come from elsewhere in the universe too. Correct me if I'm wrong, but creationism says god made us as we are today. If this is true, then it would had to have been a large number of us created at one time. If you don't understand that then I'll explain it later.

Evolution has many theories. The Big Bang theory says that the Universe was created by a bunch of matter clumped up together into a speck of dust, and it exploded, basically. That isn't really going into detail.

Some more facts to ponder:

The oldest living tree is 4,300 years old.

The oldest living coral reef is 4,200 years old.

The moon is receding a few inches each year. Billions of years ago, the moon would have been so close to the Earth that the tides would have been very high, eroding away the continents.

Among other factors to consider is that all the ancient astronomers from 2,000 years ago recorded that Sirius was a red star -- today it is a white dwarf star. Since today's textbooks in astronomy state that 100,000 years are required for a star to "evolve" from a red giant to a white dwarf, obviously this view needs to be restudied.

So when a person has sex with another person, that makes it incest? So, we're all really inbred children? Religion is GROSS!

or that star was already in the process of evolving when it was first seen, ever thought of that? i'm agnostic, since some stories in the bible are quite disturbing, for example if adam and eve had 2 sons cain and abel, how did they procreate the rest of the human race? now theres only 1 vagina in that story, they're mothers, so according to the bible who frowns upon incest, we the human race came from incestious ancestors? not to be an asshole, but the bible has a tendency of being wrong quite a bit.

Actually, yeah. I've asked somebody about that once. I was like, "So, were Adam and Eve super-humans? Since they were pretty much brother/sister (not really but sort of), that would mean everybody is getting stupider and stupider every generation." Just a thought to ponder.

What does this have to do with anything about evolution or creationism? If it is true all it shows is that the oldest LIVING tree or coral reef is that old. And as for the whole astronomy thing, look at the technological advances over 2,000 years. An ancient astronomer probably didn't use the same terms as today and could have said it different. Where did you find a study that shows the moon is receding each year?

So, then creationism is wrong, because we're not getting stupider, we're getting smarter, and making more and more technological advances every day.

"Measurements show that the Moon is receding from Earth at a rate of about 3.8 centimeters per year." (NASA)

However, that doesn't really prove anything, because there are still many theories which might explain this (like the moon having once been part of the earth flung off because of high centripetal forces). Also, there havn't always been oceans on the earth.

Is there an accepted date among creationists for when people were formed?

Not that I know of. But, is there an accepted date among evolutionists for when people were formed?

Scientists are increasingly stopping believing in the evolution theory. The many disagreements between even evolutionary bioligists shows how little solid science supports evolution. Nobody has even seen a new species evolve, either. Evolutionists can't

Another thing I've always thought about. Humans are said to have evolved from monkeys. If this is true, then why are there still monkeys? Did they forget to evolve?

And, one last fact I found on the internet just now..

A living cell is so awesomely complex that its interdependent components stagger the imagination and defy evolutionary explanations. A minimal cell contains over 60,000 proteins of 100 different configurations.16 The chance of this assemblage occurring by chance is 1 in 10 ^4,478,296 .17

theory - a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena;

A higher power is just as much a theory as evolution is. We have no proof. It's all about BELIEF. Trying to prove or disprove either one is really pointless. There's only one for-sure way to find out and that is to die.

I would also like to add all "scientific" evidence provided by a church is usually very biased and never well funded.

Exactly. Arguing these two is pointless, but it's fun to see how the debates turn out.

Creationism = theory. Evolution = theory. Neither can be proven.

i dont like religion, there is no proof of what happened. thats why it was evolution. and everyhting was eevolved from something else and when there was the first thing, it eveoled from some protiens and amino acids brought to life from vents deep within the earth. an with the big bang, it all started with extremely dense material less then a millimeter big, and within a milli-second the universe expanded to millions of square miles, just like that. and then the particles, now they have more space, so they crash into each other and create bigger things, that arnt as dense as the origional thing, and etc, etc stuf happens and here we are =D

Well, the first members of the Homo genus are estimated to be from around 2.4-1.5 million years ago, while the first truly "modern humans", Homo Sapien Sapiens are usually put around 200,000 years ago to the present. My point wasn't whether or not a date could be proven, I genuinely had no clue if creationists pointed to a certain period of time (5,000 years ago? 10,000 years ago?) when they thought humans were formed...this interested me because there is pretty solid evidence of civilizations from a loooooong time ago, I wasn't sure which would pre-date the other.

I'm pretty sure God, if He exists, can break the laws of conservation.

I agree with what Jar and T3K said. I am agnostic and I lean more towards evolution than creationism because creationism depends on a lot of things that cannot be proven through reason. If you can't find a reason, I'm not even going to bother with it.

So how can they change that? You can't just start truly believing something because someone tells you to.
