Post Screw ASUS
So back in july I got a laptop. its a nice beefy ASUS machine, which although it can run pretty much any game on high settings if you do because of the geniuses who designed it decided to make it so the machine had some serious overheating problems. now after my machine wont boot up at all i open it up and the heatsink is fried It is under warranty so i send it in to get it repaired. It comes back in about a week and a half so im not complaining to much not bad turn around for a repair. after a day or two the screen stays black and i can hear windows loading sounds and whatnot so the screen is fucked. so i have to send it back in because apparently while it was shipping or something the screen took a shit. So im back to my old desktop for another week or so and supaflys laptop starts acting up. (we both got the same laptop as a graduation gift from our whole family) so as soon as mine gets back he sends his in. Im super happy now no real overheating problems and then my adapter to charge it goes bad. Now this machine on the "battery saving" power option last for one hour tops. so i call them up and send in my adapter they say they will just send me a new one as soon as it arrives. according to the post office delivery confirmation they got it on the 17th. I have called every 2-4 days since then and every time after trying to read numbers off to some guy from india they say they still dont have confirmation of delivery i give them the tracking number and they still wont just send me a new F*CKING adapter. just got off the phone with a manager or some shit. 48 hours they say they will call me back.

sorry for the wall of text its really just me ranting super wicked pissed atm.

I usually have to yell at two brown people from amazon customer support until I get to a white person who can actually do something.

To be fair, there are quite a lot of people in India named Peter. It is a tradition there for Christians to have biblical names. You should know that Peter (or at least the Americanized version of Petros) is a Middle Eastern name, along with many other names you might think have a Western origin (John, Jacob, James, Abraham, Joe - derivation of Joseph and so on). The usual tradition is that when a child gets baptized, he/she is given a name of biblical origin (usually a saint), which becomes the child's official name.

It is not just true in the case of biblical names. You should remember that India used to be a British Colony. In addition of several Anglo-Indian communities, many elements from the English culture are a part of the current India, including names of Western origin.

The traiditional "Indian" names are you might be used to belong to Hindus, or are nicknames.

When you get laptop back buy something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834998686. Keeps laptop cool and it's quiet (got one for my wife's laptop).

@Reborn - and you wonder how people know you're gay? Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_20

I was thinking that it was brought over and influenced during the times of the Raj; guess I was off.

So they actually use the English version "Peter"?

Man, my Asus has been nothing short of awesome for the 3 years that I've had it. I had to send it in once because the HDMI output got all fucked up. The whole send back debacle was pretty painless though.

ASUS laptops rock. Hell my ASUS laptop survived a trip to India.

However, I do have to agree with you that they overheat like a mofo if you do anything on them. But that's expected, you've got a high-end graphics card, a multi-core processor, 4 GB of RAM and a couple of hard drives in something small.

Also don't play with the BIOS settings. Changing the hard drive setting from SATA to IDE and back to SATA can result in SATA not working for one of the bays! Not sure how the F*CK that happened, but I couldn't undo it.

To see Peters and people with more Western names, you have to go to Goa or Kerala (where there are more Anglo-Indians and Christians compared to other states). Every state is like its own country with a different culture, language and traditions.

Sounds like my sister's case. She bought a laptop one year ago, and a week before the warranty expired its motherboard failed. Luckily she was still able to send it in and now, 2 weeks later, the motherboard fails AGAIN and now the warranty is up. She even tried calling HP and they said "We're going to have to charge you $99 if you want our help to fix it over the phone."

I bet they intentionally put in a shitty motherboard so they could get more of her money

Have you had anyone inform you of the industry term "Planned Obsolescence"?? It's pretty much standard operating procedure, often in the guise of cost efficiency (sometimes necessary due to the design of capitalist economics).
