1,200 a day plus per diem sounds about right, depends on the job tho, and the locations.

what type of work? oil rig shit? i know that can be tough, cause i worked on a drilling rig in colorado for a summer (starting pay was $19/hr). the pay will be great, but you may burn out on it quick. i'd say at least $80k/year. if you don't have many bills to pay that is a shit load of money to save for when you want to get a better quality job.

No hard labor at all... work would be electrical engineering related stuff. Also, the locations would be on vessels in different oil rich areas... aka outside of vietnam, arab gulf, gulf of mexico, etc..

I'd want to get paid in Trident Layers.

But no i would say in the 120K-150K would be good, of course depending on the area and amount of time you spent there.

Yep, I know dudes right now that make $1,200 a day on LAND based drilling rigs sitting in a trailer watching computer screens all day. Risk vs. Reward vs. Demand = high pay. Working off shore is risky stuff. The chance of getting killed is really high on those rigs...so, yeah, $1,200 a day.

These won't be drilling rigs. They will be oil exploration vessels.. not sure if they'll be boats or fixtures or what not yet

Is the job a locate/value spot or an evaluation/costs job? if it's eval/costs then you would be fine in the 90K to 150K range, maybe even 175K, if it's a locate/value position look closer to 200K or find out if they include bonus's for each wrap, reason being locate/value jobs are on worse conditions, with higher risks, both native and environ. Eval/costs are spots that are already considered safe locations. With this being a first employ and your conditions even 75K will be cake, bank as much as possible, and invest 25% of everything you make up front. Stay till the rotations start getting to you. It's great work to get into, and the experience is going to be worth more then what you make at first anyway, even after 3 to 5 years it should double your value, for future jobs, and if you make yourself stand out, "do your best every chance you get" your name will get passed around. hope this helps.

Yes but you will be in high risk area's of the world! Try it for 6 months and see if you like it, experience is what you will get in the end but make sure you get paid well for it.

Right out of college? I'd hop all over $100k + room/board + corporate housing/vehicle lease stipend in downtime.

I'd commit to 4 years. By then I'd know for sure if I really liked it or really wanted out.

As someone who had to work from a foreign location, make sure you discuss the following points before accepting any offer:

1. Housing conditions. Will amenities like showers, laundry, hot water and electricity be available, and will the be available 24/7?
2. In case of emergency, is there medical care comparable to basic care from the USA?
3. Is internet access provided? If not, what are the options for purchasing internet access.
4. What provisions are there for leaving the location and returning home for a family emergency (ie serious illness or funeral).
5. What provisions are there for making personal calls to the USA? This might be a moot point if internet is provided,

I made a mistake and assumed that housing would me the as good as a bad motel in the USA, with at least 24/7 water + electricity. I was wrong. Also, if you're going to be dealing with non-western companies, get everything, and I mean everything in writing. Verbal agreements mean shit when you are in a foreign country.

Lastly, make sure you have a credit card or something with a sufficient limit to say F*CK it, I'm going home. Don't accept the position if you don't have a way to leave if the situation becomes ugly.

Jet, I sincerely want to thank you. These are all questions I was also either overlooking or assuming, I will definitely ask each and everyone.
