Post Photo Collection from India
Here's some photo albums I've created since I've been in India.

I found out the hard way that you never develop an immunity to the local water. 1/4 of a cup of water at a classy restaurant and spent the weekend feeling like shit.

So far so good. I'm living like a king for less then $10 a day. I've got 4 more months left. One of the BEST things that happened while I was here was a bunch of cute Colombian girls showed up about a week after we did for an un-related program. Since we were some of the only people on campus who spoke good English, we became good friends.

I'm actually staying at my own place within the Infosys campus in Mysore. It's less then 3000 Rs. a month (about $50) for something much like a college dorm. The only drawbacks are:
1. no alcohol
2. no women in the rooms
3. 11:00 weekend curfew, 9:30 weekday curfew
4. No hot water after a certain time.

On the plus side, there's daily cleaning and free bottled water.

If we don't make it back, they don't let us back on the campus until the next morning. This is enforced by armed guards patrolling the outside the campus

Jet - Where in India are you staying? What are you doing there? How is the food? I love a good curry and garlic naan. When I travel here are the pros:

1. No Wife
2. Lots of alcohol
3. Five star hotels
4. Free meals
5. Bar girls

Cons -

1. Work
2. Work
3. Hang overs plus work.
4. Jet lag

Have fun with the Columbian babes....check if they have drugs..

Personally, I hate the food. I'm not a fan of spicy food, and even the non-spicy stuff for them is kinda spicy for me.

How many years did you have to slave away for before you got all those perks while traveling?
We were sent to India economy class Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_33
Total trip time starting from Dallas: arrive at airport 5 hours early, 10 hrs to London, 6 hour layover, 1.5 hour delay (on the plane), 10 hour to Bangalore, 3 hour drive from bangalore to Mysore.

I'll post some pics of the cuter Colombian babes later (not on facebook, I think their boyfriends might kill me)

I'm in India because Infosys is and India based company and it was cheaper for them to send the US people over there for training, I think it also forces us to get used to the way Indians speak English.

www.infosys.com

For my part in Infosys, we're concerned with outsourcing software development. Basically it's VERY expensive to pay developers in the US. I'm making around 50k a year. The average salary of a new developer in India, converted into USD, is about $5000 per YEAR. This is very nice money compared to the most of the country, but way below even minimum wage back in the US. Infosys takes advantage of this by doing the bulk of the development work in India and other countries where it's cheaper and then selling the end product where they can make the most profit.

My role when I get back to the US would either be interfacing with the clients, helping get all the parts of the program put together once they come in from India, or doing testing of the code from India on a client's hardware.

The company offer a lot of services in the financial and retails markets. They also have significant services in utilities and communications and media. I've been assigned to work in the communications and media group.

Why am I infuriated as an American by this statement.
