INDEPENDENT DESIGN PROJECT Technological Design
Design Brief:
Individually design a project of your choice to occupy 3 weeks of class time.
Criteria:
§ Projects can involve any aspect(s) of our tech design course
§ Must be preceded by a 2 page Proposal detailing:
§ Situation & Design Brief: What are you doing, and for what reason?
§ Criteria: What features must your project have when completed?
§ Timeline: How will you be spending each day for two weeks? (detail each and every day)
§ Marking Scheme: Fill in the supplied rubric with at least 5 marking criteria.
§ Project proposal is subject to approval, and must be handed in and approved before work can begin.
Evaluation:
Teams will be evaluated in three ways:
1. Project Proposal 20%
2. Teacher-assessed demonstrations of work habits during the course of the project: 40%
3. Teacher will supply RUBRICS FOR MARKING SCHEME (marked by teacher) 40%
Due date:
The Project will be due, in its entirety, on Friday, June 10, 2006

Recommendation:
Please choose something that you can reasonably accomplish in the class time available. You will be evaluated against your original goals laid out in your proposal, so be sure you can accomplish them. At the same time, you will be evaluated on your work habits – so it is a careful balance between having enough to do to fill the time, but not having too much.
Please consider your project proposal and timeline very carefully!



In other words, I have to design, and produce a project using basic knowledge of workshop tools and design softwares. What should I make!?!?!?!

Right now I am thinking of using Weedman's oh so helpful advice and creating a robot. A four legged walking robot which will resemble some kinda freaky animal. The hard part will be rigging it up so it has one motor and four independantly moving feet. :x

More ideas are welcome, I can change my plans up until June 9th!

Dude, Robots are easy, I can make a damn robot out of lego's. make something badass. Like a temperature activated water cooling system capable of cooling 2 GPU's, 2 CPU's, 3 HD's, and north/south bridge chips. What I mean by temperature controlled, is like the pump will only pump out certain ammounts of coolant depending on the temperature of the chips.

This has been done, but it would be cool to see a home made one.
