 Going deaf :(
I'm fairly sure that playing CS with headphones is making my ears ring something fierce.
Any suggestions on how to keep the voice going but ditch the loud sounds altogether, such as guns?

 Re: Going deaf :(
All I can say to you is make sure that you clean your ears,
I blame heavy headphone use to cause a soft wax compaction in my left ear that caused me to go deaf in it for a few days.

What Tazz said. You may not know but bus drivers have the meanest ears you can find, packed with wax. This is your body trying to protect your delicate ears from the freaking loud noises. Clean them up, and don't drive a F*CKING bus.
Should be good :)

1.6 has voice_scale try that and see if it's a command for Source. Higher is louder for voice.

 Re: Going deaf :(
This is why I rarely use headphones/earphones now (and when I do, I never jack up the volume). Cleaning the ears is a good suggestion, but it's far more important to keep the volume low enough that you don't feel even very minor discomforts.

 Re: Going deaf :(
1) Get good gaming headphones (not earphones - those will destroy your hearing on the long run) 2) Using volume control on the headphones I set the volume level to adjust to my game mood. If I play for lulz I have it very low just to hear in-game voice communication. With try-hard pants on I set it so high that on from B I can hear T farting in the pit on long A. 3) Play with the levels of voice communication and game sounds (I have game sounds set lower than voice com). 4) You're getting older. First you loose erection, then hearing, good sight, you wet yourself during the sleep...

lawl
listne to carrot for one, that's how you change things to work for you. Secondly, go to the grocery store and buy baby oil. Take said baby oil and place a couple drops in one ear, lay down with said ear in air for a few minutes then grab a kleenex and wipe your ear out.
Q tips are bad for your ear canal,, they scratch and actually push wax in tighter, Oil will dissolve wax build up.. and your hearing should be fine. I personally haven't done this yet but i probably should since I have a consistent ringing in my ears all day long low tone usually.

 Re: Going deaf :(
Really appreciate the screenies Cpt. However, this is what happens:
Turn voice receive volume up all the way. Turn game volume down all the way.
Nothing comes out of the speakers. Game volume is mis-labeled. It should be "master volume", and there should be another volume control for "game sound effects".
I assume they left it out because it could theoretically give someone an advantage. I dunno.
Voice scale is indeed a setting that kinda works, but it just distorts voices. It is still controlled by the "master volume".
