If one buys a brand new pistol, is a lockable case included? (im assuming yes, but i don't know for sure. perhaps it varies from brand to brand.)
Would it come with cleaning tools and/or gun oil? I just bought a new pistol. H&K P30 9mm. As I understand it, all new pistols must come with a lockable case. Mine, it has a handle you can just toss a padlock around. Mine also came with a cable lock that you can thread thru the chamber & handle for short-term storage, transportation, etc. None of those are ideal though, so I'm picking up a real-life gun safe this afternoon. If you're at all worried about theft or family/friends gaining access to your firearm you'll do the same :) With the safe, it's much too heavy to carry around easily, and you can cable lock it to something sturdy like a pillar. Gunvault has some interesting ones involving "combination-by-feel" so you could unlock in the dark. I'm not at all interested in firearm for home protection so I'm going traditional digital keypad. My pistol came with 1+1 mags, extra backstrap/sidestraps for ergonomics, the case, the lock, and the book. I had to buy a cleaning kit separate. I know for a fact that the Glocks I checked out came similarly. Not sure about the Springfields, Berettas, etc- I just handled the pistols, never saw the case they come with. Hope that helps-- I'm a total noobie owner, joinng a gun club later this week & taking some NRA classes for new pistol owners & concealed carry.

Re: FINALLY gettin ma pistol permit
step 1 complete.
step 2....go retain a lawyer that specializes in defensive shooting and case law regarding this subject.
step 3 put thousands of rounds through it.
step 4 it is now your responisibility to be the DE-escelator at risk of looking like a pu$$y or the small man. otherwize every gram of lead you put downrange is followed by a F*CKING 7 nation army of lawyers out to F*CK YOUR ASS AND SEND IT TO ASS RAPE PRISON. for a long long time. then if you do get out, the family sues you civily.
that is all.

Re: FINALLY gettin ma pistol permit
i was giving you advice to keep you outta ass rape prison, but if you are into that sort of thing, by all means, disregard it.
you just got your CHL
i have had mine for over ten years now, and i am currently a NRA home defence and CHL instructor.
so feel free to disregard valid and sound advice, by all means.

Re: FINALLY gettin ma pistol permit
easy, big fella, EASY. i am grateful for your advice, it just took me reading what you posted six or seven times to really grasp what you were getting at. it was kinda cryptic. that being said, advice duly noted.
In general, I'm a nice, easy-going guy and I don't plan on doing anything that could (easily) land me in prison. my dirt button is a one-way street. Also, I don't really see the need for getting my concealed carry permit. I don't need to be packin' at all times. I don't live in the Harlem projects, I live in some podunk connecticut town. I just think guns r kool and wanna go to the range and go blastin'.
