dishwashig is not a good first job imo. If I was interviewing someone for a job I would see dishwashing as a less responsible job than McDonalds, at mcdonalds you at least learn customer service and money handleing.
Your best best (resume wise) is to go something with customer service such as retail.

Retail is buisness related which is pretty much what america and other big corps are about. They want someone who needs the least amount of training in the aspects of how to treat someone (customer service) and finicial ethics (reports money counting/hadleing) retail also gets you used to working in slacks if what your looking for is office job when your older that is.

Well the idea is to start low, with low responsibility in the eyes of a business owner, and work your way up the ladder. Yes?

One of my best/fav jobs was a server for Tony Romas. The money was great ( i only reported 10% of my sales as tips so that i wouldnt get screwed by the irs at the end of the year) the people were great and i never had to wash a dirty plate ( i hate washing dishes i think thats one of the grossest thigs one can do ... only second to working for city dump)

yes but you wanna set a par for yourself. You dont wanna start at the bottom if you can start higher/ get paid better

Does Quiznos count as a "fast-food" place? Because it isn't bad - I enjoyed working there as my _real_ first job.

It's seriously one of the only food places I can think of that you have to wear some sort of protective gloves so you don't get your shit all over someone else's food. Only other places I can think of are the delis in like Walmart and Publix that make you wear gloves.

You also get a break every four hours, like oreX said. I don't know if it's just at my Quizno's, but I get a free regular sub for my break as well.

After working at Quizno's, I now wonder why Taco Bell/Burger King/McDonald's doesn't make their employees use gloves.. :(

When I was 14, all the way up until I enlisted in the Navy, I had one job. Started off as a dishwasher at the restaurant portion of a bar/grille....then eventually worked my way up to line cook. It was a hell of a job, too! Since I worked there for 4 years, I got to know the owners (still go back there to have some food and drink whenever I go back to Wisconsin), so they didn't mind to sneak me a drink or two every now and again.

You're right, but I am too. It's kind of a double-edged sword.



I work at Laurienzo Brick Oven Cafe, and we make all of our pizzas by hand, in our brick oven (wood, not charcoal). Our pizza chefs are encouraged to wear gloves, both of our owners do when they make pizzas, but not absolutely required to. Although, they do wash hands frequently, and we deal with fresh ingredients. But that's not much of a make-up. Our fry/sautee cook isn't required to wear gloves either. Am I correct in saying that bacteria and disease are killed in the heat?
