Post Let Me Convince You To Not Cancel
I hate annoying little sales reps trying to sell me extra services, or try to convince me of something I don't want.

Like today, I realized that my NetZero dial up internet account was still active and being autobilled.

About a year or two ago, I was tired of using my Username on my parents AOL account (while still living with them) so I bought NetZero internet. 9.99 a month. Cheap. Then A few months later I made a mistake of buying their so-called "highspeed dial up" crock of sh1zt. Anyways, after about 7 weeks of that I realized it wasn't worth the extra 5 bucks a month and I was short on money anyways so i decided to cancel the account alltogether. This was about 9 months ago. I planned on using my parents AOL account again, because you can't argue with free, especially when your broke.

Somehow, even though i explicitly told the customer service rep that I wanted the account canceled, she talked me into getting the regular dial up service for 4.98 a month, since I was a "loyal customer" who had "always paid on time and been with the company for a while".

Recently I realized I don't want to be charged for this anymore, since I don't use it, I moved out, and can't even use it if I wanted to. My appartment dosn't even have a phone line hooked up. No use when I have a Cell.

I called up the customer service, and told the guy plain and simple I wanted to cancel the account. Like this. "hello. I would like to cancel my NetZero account. I no longer use it and would like to stop being charged for it"

"well is there anything wrong with the service? The software. Are you having a hard time connecting? How may I help you?"

"Nothings wrong with the service. I don't use it anymore. I moved. I have moved to a new address, and I no longer have a phone line. I cannot use the service. I have cable internet. I have no need to use your service anymore, and I would like you to stop charging me please. Thank you."

Now at this point I thought to myself, now there is no way he could argue with this, or try to convince me to stay on, or buy something or extend service. But he did.

"Just to let you know, I'd like to offer you our premium email service for only 10.99 a month I can offer you unlimited emails with unlimited space"

Bah!
These monkeys don't like it when you take away their biscuits.

Actually what prompted me to do this is this video I found of someone trying to cancel their AOL account. Reminded me

http://www.killsometime.com/Video/video.asp?ID=542

If I were the guy trying to cancel AOL, I would have cussed the other guy out, and screamed at him.

Just another reason I hate AOL.

When I cancelled my grandparents AOL, the customer service guy pissed me off. I told him straight forward i wanted to cancel it, then he started going on about how I'm not capable of being virus protected without AOL or some shit, I lost it on him. I called him a few choice names, and then told him to cancel the shit. then he added some kind of rediculous fee and he might've lost his job...who knows. But we bitched about the extra fee he added trying to be a dick.
