The server has been updated. The patch contains mainly bugfixes but also added some new decorative blocks:

how are those diff sand blocks uptained? and will the wells appear in already discovered desert?

The wells have been appearing Resin. I have one in the desert near my place.
EDIT: Hopefully with all the bug fixes some of the major lag issues will be gone. The list of fixes doesn't seem to have anything on it that seems anywhere near related to the problem, but maybe it was dealt with. We shall see.
