do i absolutely HAVE to put in my age for the application?

I would assume so, due to this particular forum having issues with maturity.
For example, if you list your age as 32 and act like an 8 year old, people will hold you to the standards of a 32 year old and treat you differently than they would if you had put your age as 8.

There's no real privacy involved in age, people will just know what to expect of you.
