Post Help me
So I got my new computer all put together. I booted it up and everything went fine. I go to install Windows XP and it goes through the first stage of it where it says everything is loading, but right when I get to the end of that stage it goes to a blue screen everytime. The problem says that I need to check my hard drive. So I check all the connections and everything looks fine, I even put a new SATA cable in there just to be sure. And I still get the same error. Anyone know what is wrong? Maybe a bad hard drive?

Make a boot disk, boot into dos, and format it. (with windows xp, right click on the disk drive and you can do it with the built in software).

w3rd. I have heard of this problem before. It was mostly with the original release of XP. Creating the boot disk like Gman said should allow you to fix the problem. Are you using a legal or booted copy? If you're using a booted copy, make sure none of the file are corrupted in the installation. That could be why you're getting a blue screen.

Naw it is a legal copy. I am pretty sure this is the original release of it. The only bad thing about it is I did not buy a floppy drive for it. So I just have to interchange them between this computer and that one.

Get a USB FDD. You can get one at ChumpUSA for like $50. Also you can go to www.bootdisk.org and DL a bootable DOS CD.

Well I knew I forgot something, but now I am having trouble getting them to install. I searched around and found the files I needed to put on a boot disk.

Si3112r.inf
Si3112r.mpd
Si3112r.sys
SIISUPP.VXD
SIWinAcc.sys
TxtSetup.oem

Those are the files. I read that if I had them on a boot disk then it would pick up my SATA HD and I could install XP on it. But it never gets to where I can load them. I still get to the same point in the install, right after it is loading everything and it goes to a blue screen.

Go to your bios and set it to boot from floppy, the sata drivers should have come on a floppy with the board.First install them then restart go in bios again and set it to boot from optical drive and install windows.

Haha you will laugh when you hear this one. I installed my CD-Roms on the E-IDE slot instead of the IDE slot. It would still load both of the and detect them right and everything. I got to looking over my other computer and noticed that and switched it on here and it fixed it. Kind of weird to get a hard drive error from that though.
