o and is 60 fps good?

the naked eye can't really tell the difference for anything above 60 fps from what I hear. So anything above that or at that is good IMO.

yes just the numbers, open console and type, ie;

rate 25000

then press enter and it will take effect.

so i type
ie; rate 25000?

or is ie; the example
im confuzled =S

and will these commands help my game and make me lag less?

Is there any advantage to capping your fps at a lower level... Such as increased consistency? My game can go from 100 fps to 20 in the snap of a finger and I'm wondering if there is a simple way to fix that besides buying a new CPU. (I run a shitty 1.3Ghz which is the main cause of this problem.)

I tested all those rates and my choke/loss are still higher than usual.

Before I did anything I had 60 fps and between 0-5 loss/choke...

Now I fluctuate sometimes to ~75...

I have to set my cl_updaterate from 20 to 60 in the pubs or I get hella choke. For scrims I put it at 101 (not that it helps my sorry ass).

512 MB.

You should upgrade that.

And then, set all your rates back to what they were before.

And set your resolution to 800x600 with that graphics card.

Integreated > me. And I play on the lowest setting [640x480] because it takes up the whole screen, 800x600 leaves about half an inch margin per side for me. :S

dude u think u have it bad i have a 64 mb gfroce card with only 256 mb ram and still get 100 fps and 0 choke and i own bitches with that....

I'm not really complaining. I play fine on my computer, but I want to be like Brian aka superduperCAL1.6winnar.



And with 60 FPS it is near IMPOSSIBLE to complete most Surf maps. The one I am currently trying to beat (surf_bobstraining) is physically impossible to do with less than 70 FPS, and that came from Bob himself who is probably one of the best Surfers on CZ.
