Post Steam Goes Offline When I Start up a Game
When I am at my desktop steam is online and working perfectly fine. But when I decided to play a game such as CS:S, TF2, etc. Steam suddenly goes offline and I cannot connect to ANYTHING. it's weird cause I can open up a friends server info and press join but when the game starts and I start to connect to the server Steam goes offline and so does my internet. My actual internet GOES OUT. I need help guys, this is a real pain in the butt... I WANT TO PLAY CS:S AGAIN!!! :(

What do you have to do to fix it?

Have you disabled firewalls/antivirus/etc?

I don't have anything to fix it at the moment. I just recently got my PC connected to my router via Ethernet cable and I will see if that makes a difference (I was wireless before).

And yeah I tried shutting off my antivirus's and that didn't do much help.

I meant 'what do you have to do to regain internet access after this problem happens?'

You obviously have internet access now. Do you close the game and immediately get connected back to the interwebs? Do you have to close steam? Restart steam? Restart your PC? Restart your router/modem?

Alright so I feel dumb. Found out the problem was my wireless internet receiver was going bad. So my father routed me directly to the router via Ethernet cable. I am good now. Was all just an internet problem... Thanks for at least trying to help guys.

If it is one of those USB wifi adapters, you can just unplug it and plug it back in lol.
