Post Source on windows 7?
HELP?!?!?

At one time I was fairly well versed in fixing these problems but it seems I've been out of the loop for WAY too long. Just loaded Source and Steam onto my new(ish) computer for the first time. I can get the game running and have the n00bfest server saved in my favorites. I have a good ping (35 - 55) and connect just fine. After I connect, my ping drops to over 100 and eventually I get an error message that kicks me from the server, but not from the game. The error message is something like "Dissconnect: Buffer overflow in net message." Not sure what that's all about and so I'm kind of lost as to how to fix it. Any Idea's? If I'm just being a retard and missing something obvious let me know. Thanks!

I'm playing it with no prob.

The error message sounds to me like it may be something along your network chain. Start with your network card (or motherboard, if it's onboard) drivers and work outward. Make sure you have latest drivers-- with win7, some of the default drivers are pretty seriously flawed.

A google search yielded a lot of bs, but this one looks like it may be right. Have one of us admins check your rates when you join next.

same here not a win 7 issue more network side ck router adapter etc might be a simple driver issue.

This is aparently a fairly common isuue. Or so it says according to google
from what I can tell it may have something to do with your router not allowing certian ports or something from getting in or out.

I would google your problem and check out the steam forum link.

I would be more helpfully here but I'm on my phone so it's kinda a pain on the ass. I'll post more when I get home

I know you fixed this issue already, but be sure to double-check this as well because it more than less sounds like your rates are set extremely low.

Try typing "rate 30000" in console, and see if your ping goes down even more.
