Vista Lag Spike problem
So since I got my new computer Ive been using a Linksys USB Network Adapter to connect wirelessly. Unfortunately, there is apparently a problem with Vista in which some get severe lag spikes every 30 or 60 seconds. As you guys may have noticed in-game with me, I think I may have that problem. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it (if you DID fix it)? I'm probably going to get a long ethernet cable and do a hardline instead of wifi, but if there is a fix for this so that I don't have to spend any money, it'd be very much appreciated.

Re: Vista Lag Spike problem
r u sure its vista, it could be that ur using wireless and its not a stable connection. if hard wiring it doesnt work, u can do 2 things, upgrade ur ram to 4gb of the fastest ram ur computer can handle, or install xp or win 7 instead of vista, both are much lighter, xp of course (from personaly experience) is even lighter than 7. (u can get both free, pm me for more info if u need help getting them, lol)

Re: Vista Lag Spike problem
are you the only person on the internet at your location? someone else could be downloading or web browsing causing lag. also, wireless sucks for maintaining a constant good ping/connection. good luck, those lag spikes are rough, hope you get it fixed.

Re: Vista Lag Spike problem
Spend the money on a cable to hard wire.
There's just so much going on in between the wireless router and your game that it could be one or more of any number of things. It would be much more worth your time & money to cable 'er up.

Re: Vista Lag Spike problem
Mindless is right. Windows' native Wireless Zero service is garbage. I hate to say it, but you'll need to disable it and all your problems will disappear. The unfortunate thing is... if you need wireless zero to authenticate on your wireless network, it can be a bit hairy. I'd see what sort of application Linksys has for wireless connectivity, as it may not suck as much as Wireless Zero.
