IMGBurn Official Site http://www.imgburn.com/ Great, easy to use image burner Daemon Tools Official Site http://www.daemon-tools.cc Very good CD/DVD Mounting program, allows you to virtually mount a CD/DVD, making your computer think you have the CD in the drive when you don't, very convenient. ---------------------------- Anti Virus/Trojan removers/Firewalls ---------------------------- ZoneAlarm Official Site http://www.zonealarm.com Very good firewall/anti-malware if you're in need of one. always given good results and a high rating. Some programs are free, some arent AVG Free 9.0 Official Site http://www.avg.com One of the best Anti-virus programs out there. 9.0 is the newest version, it is a bit bulky, but is also very good. Avast! Official Site http://www.avast.com/ Another great, free anti-virus program. personally i dont like it because it isnt as easy to use as avg or avira. Avira Antivir Official Site http://www.avira.com Another great, free anti-virus program. Not as bulky as AVG. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Official Site http://www.malwarebytes.org/ A must-have anti-malware program. I have always used it side-by-side with any anti-virus and anti-spyware prgrams im using at the time. ---------------------------- Spyware Removal ---------------------------- SpyBot S&D Official Site http://www.safer-networking.org Very good Spyware/Malware remover, free download and constantly updated. Tends to get some of the stuff spybot doesn't. ---------------------------- 3rd Party Browsers ---------------------------- Mozilla Firefox Official Site http://www.mozilla.com/Firefox/ One of the best browsers out there, built in pop-up blocker, integrated Google search bar, TONS of plug-ins, prevents useless spyware/active-x programs, etc. Multiple Tab'd browsing, bookmark manager, TONS of features. Best browser out there, by far. Google Chrome Official Site http://www.google.com/chrome Very nice browser by google. Fast with lots of nice features. Still lacking in some areas, but give it time. Opera Official Site http://www.opera.com Another great browser, not quite as sharp and as fast as Firefox but still very good. Whether you use it for a CS idling channel or to talk to thousands of people at once, it's up to you. Suggest downloading this and find your favorite channels today! CCleaner Official Site http://www.ccleaner.com/ Removes invalid registry files, cache files, certain history things, and much much more. I deleted over 300 mbs worth of junk, some people have reported up to 4gbs of things removed, I suggest this to anyone. Advanced SystemCare Free Official Site http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html Great maintenance program. Cleans registry, some spyware, temporary files, and many other things. Revo Uninstaller Official Site http://www.revouninstaller.com/ IMO the best uninstaller tool. It is a great replacement for the windows uninstaller. It will do a search, after using the built-in uninstaller, for left over files. Auslogics Disk Defrag Official Site http://www.auslogics.com/disk-defrag One of the better de-fragmenting program. Gives good info after the defrag. Defraggler Official Site http://www.piriform.com/defraggler By the same company that makes CCleaner, this is another great defrag program. Easy to use, tiny download. I like it's "quick defrag" feature that blasts through the low-lying easy stuff. Smart Defrag Official Site http://www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.html Another great program from IOBit. it has an icon built into Advanced SystemCare. It is a very good program, IMO the best. MyDefrag Official Site http://www.mydefrag.com/ A great defrag program. The best part for me, is that it has an option to use it as my screen saver. It will defrag my computer whenever the screen saver comes on. Re: Anti-Malware and other programs. I'd argue that both Avast and Avir should fall ahead of AVG. AVG is almost too bloated to use compared to the others.
Browsers, don't forget Google Chrome. Once plug-ins are allowed and they have a good ad blocker, Chrome will be king, no doubt in my mind. IM client I swear by currently is Pidgin.
