Post Internal Driver Error in IDirect3D....
So I am getting the infamous "Internal Driver Error in IDirect3DDevice9::Present()" and if anyone has any info on how to help (other than "buy a new computer" I would appreciate it.

I know my graphics card is s^^^ but I should be able to play CS:S without a problem. If anyone has any tips or advice please share- thanks.

uninstall all video drivers and then download the latest drivers for your videocard and hope for the best

I didn't believe you when you said that it was infamous, but then I did a simple google search and found the information you used to be correct in that assertion... not to mention quite a few solutions that you no doubt found as well.

Yeah. All hardware companies have a tendency to break things once in a while in their drivers and everyone blows them out of proportion.

I tried un-installing all of my drivers and then getting the updates but didn't work. I'll keep searching around for what the hell it could be but I appreciate the help- hopefully it'll be fixed soon.

Try uninstalling your drivers and NOT updating...sounds weird but I have a problem with my video card where if I update my drivers, I'll go and play CSS and a random flashbang will crash my computer. Without the update no crashes.

F*CK you flashcrash! (Nvidia btw). I tried updating last week and I didn't last 10 seconds.

the best thing to do is to never update the original drivers as long as it works. Also have u tried cleaning out the tower and making shure the card isnt over heating?
The updates for ati products never tend to fix anything but bugg the card, ive gone through 3 (radeox1300,1300pro and radeonx1650pro) before i just stoped updating them.

I've been playing for ~ an hour tonight and it's been ok so far. I disabled some stupid ATI background appliation that was running and it seems to have fixed the problem- at least so far. I'll see how it goes but thanks.

Install Driver cleaner and run it before installing new video drivers.Or just uninstall old drivers before you update, but never put new drivers on top of old ones.

And while the "if it aint broke don't fix it" mentality sounds good, you will probably be missing out on better performance from newer drivers.I always read the release notes to see what the bugs are and the ones fixed and also if i will gain any performance.

yeah well I cleaned out all of the old updates and installed the new driver only and I've been getting better performance but my POS computer still crashes now and again with the same error...

I've found that disabling any antivirus software has helped but not completely fixed the problem.

For now I am just taking the occasional crash as a cost of doing business and just reconnect. I figure being able to play most of the time is better than not playing at all.

On that note if you see me disconnecting and reconnecting that is the reason- not so much to try and hide my -15 K:D ratio....

(Lies- i am just embarrased by my score....) kidding

Incase anyone else is having this problem- it was my antivirus messing with my directx that was causing the problem. I got rid of it and now everything works perfectly. I tried about 100 things and this was the last one but it finally worked.
