Problem with my Razer Death Adder
I recently got a Razer Death Adder mouse for Christmas. While it's a very nice mouse, I've recently run into a problem with it.
For the first few days it was working fine. Now, during normal use, the lights on it will start to flicker until they turn off and the mouse is rendered inoperable. If I unplug it and plug it into another USB port, it'll work fine for a bit then turn itself off. I contacted their tech support about it and they gave me a cut/paste response from their faq (told me it was an issue w/ 1.21 firmware and that I should flash to 1.25b, even though the firmware I was on at the time was 1.25). I tried flashing the firmware anyway to 1.27. It seemed to work for awhile, but now it's doing the same thing again.
Is there anything I can do? Should I try flashing the firmware to an older one? Or is this just a dying mouse?
I'm also using an Asus M3A78 mobo, if that helps at all.

I assume you downloaded the Death Adder drivers from the CD? Check your settings there maybe. If that doesn't fix it, take it back, most places allow 15 to 30 days to return electronics. Trade it for a new one, woot.
I have one too and it's been working great, never a problem.

Yeah, what's your power draw from your USB ports? Are you charging your ipod/iphone or something? If so, you may be sucking too much power from your USB ports and causing the mouse to lose power.
Who knows, though?

I have speakers that drew power from a USB port, and I thought that might have been screwing with it, but I unplugged those and found that it was still being stupid. Nothing else was plugged in either.
After reinstalling the drivers/firmware, I looked at the receipt and found that the place they got it from only allows about 15 days for returns. I ended up taking it back like Coach suggested. Right now the new one works well, even with the speakers plugged into the port. Hopefully nothing goes wrong with this one.

Yeah, the new one I got has been working fine since.
I guess the other one was just defective. Oh well.

It was probably one of the worst $209 investments I've ever made. I find it is extremely hard to play video games with a giant dick in your ass.
