I recently installed a router, (a belkin) and it seems to me that I am being logged in and out of instant messangers, downloads stop mid-way, so do videos and other files.

But when I connect my modem directly to my PC my videos never stop loading half-way.

Is there something I can do to fix my router from cutting out halfway through downloads?

open your router config and mess with your ports. Look for reviews on the router and see what people use as their preferences.

Most of these router... and especially Linksys has a special configs already setup for IM MSN, AOL, etc... You just need to activate it.

To to you router config screen and enable them.

they work he said, they just time out. When I take my pc to LAN's at friends houses it happens alot...and it's my router I take, it's a beast :)

it could be a few things.

www.google.com is your best friend when it comes to issues that have more than one explanation, because I doubt anyone here will sit down and troubleshoot with you.
