My ATI card is running Catalyst Control Center 6.4 (the most recent version). I get really crummy frame rates, as you all know. I have the card settings set to Optimal Performance because that works better than any custom settings I've tried. Vsync is off. My fps constantly drops below 30 and close to 20, especially in combat. Detail textures are off and color is 16-bit when I play CZ. Any help or explanation regarding this crappy excuse for running a 7 year old game engine would be appreciated. (BTW, I know my processor sucks, but I'm wondering if that's really all this computer can manage.)

I have a 1.1 ghZ AMD. And the exact amount of RAM. But I get 60 FPS usually.

Anyways, I dunno why it's running so crappy, your card isn't THAT bad, it's old, but 256mb nonetheless..

Do you have all of your recent GFX card drivers installed? Maybe your rates are messed up a little.

You card won't be able to run very good at all if you have your resolution set anywhere higher than 800x600. I used to be in the same boat. Just change it, it's sort of a big change at first but you get used to it.

I run a gfx 5600 wich is outdated to hell and back and 512 mb ram...I dunno really waht could be the prob....I even run source at about 50 fps

see if that fixes it, Sometimes when a hacker comes into a server that im admin in (Not n00bfest my rank isnt high enough), I type in Admin_execclient "Name Here" fps_max 3, and watch them bitch about lag, then I ask them how often they take a good look at their desktop, then use admin_execclient "Name Here" quit and watch them go.

i'm gonna have to start using execclient i dont think i've used any admin commands cept map votes, ban, kick, and restrict

it's fun. you have someone that's mic spamming? instead of kicking or banning them, use admin_execclient their name "voice_enable 0"...or someone pisses you off in any way? admin_execclient their name "bind mouse1 "kill"". lol. that's my favorite, because its so damn funny to see them go into battle, try to fire, and end up killing themselves. lol. but its one of the worst execclient ones to use.

Anyway, qwned, your graphics rendering in game probably isn't set to Open GL, which is the only way to properly run shit engine.

No. He didn't.

1. fpx_max need not be higher than 101.
2. I always have the net graph up.
3. Developer simply makes it so you can see when your fps goes over 100, among other things, something that doesn't happen often for me, I also hear it slows the game down even more.

i use these, they might help. works for all ati cards. they are badass.

Every time I try Omega Drivers it always ends up slower. I'll bet it's because I'm far too lazy to fully configure the damn thing.
