Potential new build.....

Will be purchasing the items soon, I just need to confirm with some friends about a build party to put it all together. My friends are tech leads for Future Shops and we plan on spending an afternoon putting it together and testing it out.

Re: Potential new build.....
Looks quite similar to my build except your processor is cooler.
Personally I'm going with EVGA for the video card merely for the Precision X software full compatibility which has been demonstrated to be pretty F*CKING nice. Though it might work with your ASUS cause essentially all the cards coming out are exactly the same.
Ether way nice build and we'll have fun waiting and F5'in to get the card to come in.

It's probably a good idea to choose a more reputable brand when it comes to PSU's but it's not the worst.

I understand that but a PSU is the life of your rig, if anything happens to it you may have a serious issue on your hands. Which is why I tend to stick to PSU's with good brands and good reviews by people and sources that are trustworthy. (jonnyguru, phaedrus, etc)

(jonnyguru, phaedrus, etc) Yeah, that's why I said "It's probably a good idea to choose a more reputable brand..." The verdict isn't out on Rosewill, just saying. But if you can afford it, I recommend PC Power & Cooling. I went for something on sale that is built by PC Power & Cooling's parent company, OCZ and they are just as good, and their cheaper PSUs are worth looking into as well.

I have several friends with that cooler and they said it works better and keeps there cpu 10 degrees cooler then any fan they have tried. The Roswell's from what I have looked into are not that bad. Yes there not the best but from what I hear there dependable.

It's as simple as this link here : http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1784/6/ The Proof is in the pudding and it seems the Intel Liquid solution can't keep up. I will tell you straight up, I did a lot of research on cooling and those liquid coolers (H70,H50, antec Kuhler, INtel, etc. do an OK job, but they can be beaten by a good air cooler. Unless you are going to get a custom liquid loop, I find those prepackaged loops to be sub par compared to big air. So my recommendation for a cooler would be that Noctua DH-14, the thing is a beast!! There are also a lot of other ones that are really good as well

IMO: - MOBO: you are overpaying for this one. You can get something with similar specs for $100 - $200 less: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Productcom ... 13-128-502^13-128-502-TS%2C13-131-790^13-131-790-TS%2C13-128-506^13-128-506-TS%2C13-131-760^13-131-760-TS%2C13-131-791^13-131-791-TS - RAM: I'd get slightly more expensive, but also with lower CAS: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6820231539- Invest more in power supply. Mine 5 years old Thermaltake I purchased for $200 still runs nice.

Re: Potential new build.....
I'm a thermal-fluids masters student. I'd listen to the guys saying you only need fans. The only reason you will ever need liquid cooling is if you're getting well past the average overclock. Like, we're talking 4.5ghz+. Even then, I'd be surprised if you NEEDED liquid cooling. It's just clunky, expensive on your psu and completely unnecessary for the average user. If you're going to do stupid amounts of overclocking, then go for it.
If you're not, then I wouldn't waste $110 on that shit. Your friends are exaggerating when they say it's 10C cooler than an air convection setup and they fail to mention is the fact that CPUs are made to endure enormous temperature ranges. In the grand scheme of things 10C is not very much. In fact, their observations could be the result of changing ambient temperatures.
The only reason I could ever see for a liquid cooling system in a computer is if you're running like a god damn refrigeration cycle in that ho and trying to cool past ambient temperature. Short of doing that the absolute best you're aiming for is ambient temperature, which can be achieved with a phase change cpu cooler with a heat sink and a fan. A decent one of those should run you $40-50.
If you wanted to be a really big F*CKING bossman you'd use a military grade peltier unit and cool that bitch to like 4C and do it live. Although, the downside to this is that you'd have to put that heat somewhere, and that somewhere is usually the rest of your system.
MEHMEHMEH. Tl;dr, don't invest in liquid cooling unless you're doing stupid overclocking. Get a phase change cooler with a heatsink + fan.
