I used to stuff boards at a up and coming electronics business my friend started and when we finished running the boards through the soldering machine we popped them in a dishwasher. No it wasn't a special dishwasher it was a old ass Kenmore. Those boards were used in Chrysler cars and trucks for airbags.
Its kinda funny,we used to go out drinking until the bars closed then go to the shop around 3 am and stuff boards drunk as hell.Hope you don't have a Chrysler from the early 90's.
And no it wont hurt the fans either, ive washed a geforce2 gts, radeon 9700 pro,9800 pro and 9800xt with either the dishwasher or just in the sink with the sprayer.Dawn works good.
Now ill start a fight with this statement.WATER IS ONE OF THE POOREST CONDUCTORS OF ELECTRICITY.

And you're saying it won't foul up or rust the connections? I usually just painstakingly clean all the dust off it with a paper towel lol.

Rust is a general term for a series of iron oxides, usually red oxides, formed by the reaction of iron with oxygen in the presence of water or air moisture.
Electrical connections in computers shouldn't be made of iron.. O_o
What are those kids in Africa dying for if we use Iron instead of those metals they mine?

My main concern was any form of oxidization or adverse effects from dishwasher soap (assuming you put soap in when you wash the parts). I don't plan on actually trying any of this myself I think I'll stick to just wiping the dust off because its a once in a while thing lol.

I've never heard of tossing computers in the dishwasher.
