I just got back home from college for the summertime and I hooked up my comp downstairs in my room. The problem is my parents have their comp upstairs with the shaw cable internet shit hooked up to their comp. How can I get the internet hooked up to my desktop comp without running wires and shit from upstairs to downstairs? Is there a way to do it wireless?

P.S theres already a wireless router installed upstairs so laptops can run a wireless connection.

Nevermind. Im going to buy a usb wireless adapter and that should work instead of running F*CKING wires from the router upstairs to my comp down here.

I guess most desktops dont come with WiFi adapters unlike laptops.

make sure they're router (if they even have one) is wireless capable. If not you're fucked, and for some reason due to the way you explained that, im guessing they don't have a router because they only have one PC...Reminder: Router is a very different thing than a modem. If you're confused, I'll help you set it up, unless they do have a wireless router and you do know how to set it up in which case just scrap this whole post.

naw they got a wireless router installed. Its a D-Link wireless router they got it so my sis could run the internet with her lapppy.

Nope, I think they usually assume that since you're not moving the Desktop around too much, you won't need a wireless way to connect to the internet.
