Post Re: New CS in 2012
New Details released Friday...I bolded what really stood out to me...

"On Friday, Valve confirmed the existence of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, a new multiplatform, standalone version of Counter-Strike with new maps, weapons, matchmaking and leaderboards. Co-founder of the ESEA, Craig Levine is one of the many top members of the Counter-Strike community Valve flew out to see CS:GO in action. He’s written about his experiences on the ESEA site. Read on for a summary of the main points.

Here are a few facts according to Levine’s account:

Maps included: dust, dust2, inferno, nuke and de_train
Dust has been “overhauled to be competitively played”
Will include traditional de_ and cs_ map types. No new game modes.
New weapons include a heavy machine gun, rifle, new pistols and a new shotgun
Valve are experimenting with an $850 rush-blocking molotov C*CK and decoy grenades that emit sounds of gunfire when thrown
CS:GO is built using the latest version of the Source engine
Due out in 2012, beta this Autumn
Will have “casual and competitive” game modes, built-in leaderboards and dedicated server support

Levine reports that even though CS:GO is built with Source, player movement felt very different from Counter-Strike: Source and Counter-Strike 1.6, but didn’t “grossly offend” any of the top level CSS and 1.6 players testing. Levine adds that he was “surprised at how visually polished the game was. The maps look beautiful, the player skins and animations are smooth, and the gun models are cool.”

Valve are also reshuffling the weapons line-up. Levine reports that they want players to experiment beyond the AWP, M4, AK, and Desert Eagle, and have taken “creative liberties” with the mid-range effectiveness of sub machine guns to make them a better alternative, and shotguns will have “unique close range use.” Levine also stresses that the game was being tested in a pre-beta state, and that Valve were taking plenty of feedback from the testers.

A closed beta is planned for Autumn and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is due to come out sometime in 2012, Valve time.

They can make all the weapons they want, I can't wait. Players will still cling to the Deagle/Awp/Ak because some players are kids and simply do not understand that in a real firefight you are not going to have time to aim and pick off people like you are $niper-m@n.

So glad they are paying attention to adding new weapons but not just adding them, but making them work properly and effectivly.
I always encourage players to explore the entire arsenal in the game, reason being if you dont have money or run out of bullets you may find yourself picking up someone elses weapon......what happens if you never use it? Chances are you aren't going to do a good job with your new pick-up. To many egos involved with the deagle/scout, You idiots would not go war or storm a room with just a deagle. Give me the biggest weapon you have with as much ammo I can carry and now you are ready for a real fight. I like the direction they are headed with this new concept.

I guess it's a good thing this is a video game and not a real firefight. Players will still cling to the Deagle/Awp/Ak not because they are "kids" but because they are picking the best possible weapon. If I have a better chance at killing you with weapon A then I do with weapon B then why wouldn't I use weapon A? Because it wouldn't prepare me for a real world fire fight? NINJER PLEASE I HAVE NINJEY STARS FOR THAT.

And you are dumb as shit to think you would storm a room with a para. There is a reason the military used a 30 round tops gun when taking over Osama's compound. Why would you need as much ammo as you can carry? Are you that bad at aiming? I have confidence that our soldiers are trained very well and are proficient in aiming. If they decide that a single handgun with a 7 round magazine is what they need to get the job done, that they will get it done with that weapon.

Edit: Headshot said it best. It's a F*CKING video game. Why are you trying to put down people for playing a certain way in a game that isn't even out yet?

Hey whatsup spyda.....Yes I was a real soldier.....have you served before? I am interested to know your weapon experience beyond video games.
You see (i think the SAW was named a para in earlier version of CS) I am not familair with "para" in-game on Source. I do know that the weapon you may be referring to is the 249....which uses the same barrel/chamber/ammo as the M-16/M-4. How do i know this? because I was issued a 249 in S.korea while touring Camp red Cloud. I loaded it, cleaned it, and fired it several times. I know all about it's capabilities. When fireing single-shots it is just as accurate as an M-16/M-4, and is used often in raiding rooms because of its Rate-of-fire/magazine capacity. However it does jam alot and is a bitch to clean. If you have used this weapon before and have any input beyond a game I would be glad to hear it.
Also only officers use pistols, and nobody would send a raid team in with limited firepower such as only a pistol.

Good for you, did you assassinate the #1 criminal of the world with it? No, you did not. They decided, hey, this shitty gun that dabadguy used isn't reliable enough nor light enough to move around tactically. When firing single shots, there are a lot of guns as accurate as other guns. Stop going off subject. This is about the new Counter-Strike game, not about back in the day of my time in StarCraft land with muh big gun that jammed and probably could've gotten me killed because of how shitty that it is.

Lawl.......comparing video game guns to real guns. Every gun has it's purpose. In a regular infantry battalion you will find a SAW in every fireteam, because it's always nice to have to lay down cover fire. Most special ops teams use light-weight sub-machine guns. I'm sure there was a guy on the team, somewhere, with a SAW.

No use trying to compare the two scenarios.......video games are video games and real life is real life.

Now back on topic. You two want to argue.......take to PM's.
