I've been asked by several other BC2 players if n00bfest will be putting up our own Battlefield Bad Company 2 server. After doing some digging, I've found that you can't host your own dedicated server for BC2 -- you've got to go through an "authorized hosting company" in order to do so. That means that there are no public binaries for hosting your own dedicated server, and even if there were, they'd be leaked/unsupported and thus would likely be unranked. Even if it were ranked, once DICE/EA caught on, they'd likely reset anyone who played in that server's rank. Nobody wants that.

So the official answer is: no, n00bfest will not be hosting its own BC2 server as I simply can't justify spending n00bfest's money on hosting something simply because I enjoy playing it. There are enough decent servers out there for us to play on anyway, and I'm sure fomenta is relieved to not have to worry about upkeep/maintenance on yet another dedicated server application.

Im actually kinda cool with this. We dont really have that many n00bs that are cnstantly on Bfbc2 anyhow. So im Ok with just finding a random server and Pwning it with a bunch of other guys

I have it but I don't like playing online with strangers anymore, and I was never able to join a n00b in game through steam friends, so I uninstalled it.

I have it but everytime i try to launch the game it says the game is unavailable :(

Was gonna say that if ya did have a BF2 server it might die out just like all the other servers that have been opened in the name of n00b. Oh well dont know how popular the game is so i don't know the potential of it...

Reinstall it and come play w/ me. We've been having full squads at least every night or so.

delete clientregistry.blob and restart steam.

Not sure how much I'll be able to play Fri/Sat but Sunday night I'm down. GF's coming over Friday night and I haven't seen her in a week (school started this week) and she'd be pissed if I were playing video games instead of spending time w/ her, and I've got a party to go to on Saturday.

Is it worth grabbing the Vietnam version too or is just the base game good? I have not played this one yet but for $20 on steam I'll get it.

So true, so easy to browse and find a really good server that n00bfest doesn't really need to spend its money into a server that would maybe be useful. If we want to look into a battlefield server though, it would be easier to start thinking about battlefield 3 servers since it's easier to be known when the server is really good and old.

I'd say we wait until a new game to come out before spending money for another server. Also Fomenta works so hard on the css server, working on a totaly different game would be a real pain in the ass... good idea G

btw Vietnam is a must if you really love BC2. I just can't stop sniping in this game, I really can't!

It's easy when your team works all togheter. If you don't do teamwork, you fail. I made myself friend with admins and members in a community and always play in their squads so we always win the squad pin and the whole game. Teamwork is a big must in this game!

That's the uniqueness of Bad Company, in Call of Duty you can have a shitty team and still win as long as you yourself are good, but in Bad Company it all depends on how your team works together. You won't win if you have a bunch of stat whores
