We're considering switching over to mumble, a free voice application that we can run on the same server as the CS:S and Minecraft servers. We're interested in people testing it out and giving us feedback.

You can download it here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mumble/ ... i/download

IP: 72.249.124.50
Default port
Pw: (same as ventrilo)

Didnt we try this before? or well not official? I know some of us have mumble already and use it randomly.

Could we try TS3? It too is free to run - not open source, but free for clans (of regular size).

My honest opinion of mumble is that it is very simplistic. My biggest problem with it is that it needs an option to raise/lower the volume of individual users. I tried switching my league buddies over to mumble, and couldn't bear it for this reason. Maybe they've fixed it by now?

I use mumble all the time. I think it's 100x better then ventrilo and team speak. Best thing about mumble is if someone hacks your mumble and bans everyone you have a master admin that can login and he can undo everything and the guy banning people can't do anything to that master admin.

Happy to see a free alternative being use. Just the fact we can have this and host it ourselves makes it better than Vent.

I tried it several months ago with a few other people and things like the overlay and some of the issues people had getting it working were kind of annoying. I like Ventrilo better, but when it comes to the community and what we have money for, free voice ain't a bad idea.

Mumble is amazing, also has a couple of voice enhancing features that work together well. And in most games, mumble overlays in the game and you can tell who is actually speaking. Also the muting and headset features are better than ventrillo.

I was in there for a while but only person in there was Gman and he was in the afk chan. I tried to join it again last night and it wouldnt let me join said the server rejected my connection... I hate being rejected :(

It's possible it was turned off or something with it broke, which means on that port the server was no longer accepting connections.

I'd be happy to try it out - never used it before
