As you may have noticed, I've filtered out some words from the forum for a couple different reasons.

1) We can't advertise successfully if every other word is F*CK (<- lol wordfilter)
2) I want people to feel safe browsing n00bfest from work and school

NSFW content is FINE as long as it's only posted in the NSFW forum.

I'm disapointed but if it has to be done it has to be done.

Do they have to be capitalized though the way they are...they actually make it worse than actually having it uncensored.

Yeah, kind of nice that people won't have to worry about looking at this from work or school, more so work unless your still a teenie in high school. If this helps with the ad stuff too then that's just fine. Kind of agree that the capitalization actually makes it stick out like a sore thumb though.

As a community that prides itself on freedom of speech, I think this is kinda horseshit

Freedom of speech still applies. Think of this though:

You own a business and you're advertising with, say, an agency. They're putting your ads up everywhere. Something like this even:



You find out that your ads are being displayed somewhere that has a ton of hate speech and cursing and just general BS. What happens to your business? Do you protest? Do you pull funds from your agency? It's not like we have to be 100% careful what we say, It's just that our advertisers want a cleaner forum and so do we.

I prefer to have them capitalized so that you know it's wordfiltered and the person typing it isn't just a panty-waste who is afraid to drop an F-bomb.



You're entitled to your opinion, but you're not really losing much here. You can still get your point across perfectly fine. The word filters are in place in such a way that the bots that crawl our site can't pick up on it as easily. We need to continue to grow and doing this will help facilitate that. Consider these minor growing pains, just as the one word that I word-filtered a while ago so I could safely browse the forums at work (N word).

While I appreciate the word filter and am entirely certain of the necessity of having these things in place, I feel that it would be enhanced simply by encouraging our community to extend their grasp of the English language so that it becomes possible to express any and all ideas with a more diverse pool of words.
