http://www.youtube.com/user/dreamtheater Check it out on their page. I must admit, yet again (as with their release of "On the Backs of Angels") I am pretty damn disappointed. What the F*CK is with all of this gothic, dark sounding metal shit? Where is the Dream Theater I used to know, when I was growing up? Where is the melodic, gorgeous, progressive musical masturbation that I love so much from this band? It seems like the more time passes, the less progressive and more metal Dream Theater gets. Until they start playing stuff like Metropolis, Change of Seasons, Beyond This Life, Blind Faith, In the Presence of Enemies, Overture 1928/Strange Deja Vu, Constant Motion, Home, Solitary Shell, Dance of Eternity, Erotomania, even F*CKING Count of Tuscany, etc., I just won't give my total support. Its like watching a loved-one die from cancer. Slow and painful. |

I think Mike Portnoy drove a lot of their progressiveness. Also keep in mind though, that they wrote a lot of Mangini's parts before he joined the band. They didn't allow him to show his full potential and his own writing really. I think that's one reason why their sound is a little bit bland and not as progressive. |

well that's progressive alright! Gotta say i clearly see a difference between this one and the other one released a couple of weeks ago, glad they're still playing like that today! kinda feels good to see Dream Theater on the same level after losing portnoy! |
