WERE YOU BANNED? UNBAN REQUEST PROCEDURES - READ THIS
If you're about to request a review of your ban
please read this carefully.
How you got bannedIf you are banned, it was by the deliberate action of an admin on one of our servers,
not by mistake. n00bfest admins are the most experienced and active members of the community, they've passed review and have been selected by the Elders of n00bfest to maintain the server and make sure its fun for everyone. All admins are stand up to the scrutiny of the Elders on every occasion and their performance is constantly checked -- you weren't banned by some random player but by a consistent, engaged member of the community.
Why you got bannedI would say that 80% of the time its because the admin that banned you was confident that you were hacking. The other 20% is random offenses, including but not limited to: disobeying an admin, TKing, mic spamming, disrespecting women on the server or whining like a bitch. All of these are bannable offenses.
How long you're banned forCheck
http://bans.n00bfest.com/ -- if its less than 48 hours, do not bother posting an unban request.
A special note about hackingIf you were banned for hacking, the
only thing you can do to that will even preserve a fraction of a chance of getting unbanned is to
immediately confess. Don't bullshit around, making posts in the forum saying "you just got lucky shots" or "you've been playing cs for years". The minute you make a post like that all chances of getting unbanned are out the window. More often than not the admin that banned you either did so after watching you for multiple rounds, often reviewing a demo he took, or after reviewing a demo another player took. To catch players "walling", demos can be played back in wireframe mode so as to see exactly what you see with wall hacks on. To catch players with aimbot, demos can be played back in slow motion to see unwarranted crosshair jumping. In the case an admin isn't positive, admins will often ask for second option before banning you.
There are two messages here and simply put:1) If you were hacking,
confess, it's not a guaranteed unban, in fact I wouldn't even say it gets you 5% of the way there, but
it is your only hope.
2) If you were banned for hacking (80% of our bans) then
you can be absolutely sure one or more admins were confident you were hacking.
Your unban requestDon't write an unban request in a pissed-off tone, even if you are, in fact, pissed-off. n00bfest is not your community, its ours, its not your right to play on our servers, it is
completely at our discretion. If you know why you were banned, or think you know, explain it and apologize. If you really have no idea (and you weren't hacking), look at the above common criteria, then ask why, but do it politely. If you were hacking, admit it, apologize and cross your fingers. There is nothing that fuels the rage of all our members than some random player who plays on our server, then is banned, and posts a rude, aggressive or otherwise impolite unban request.
If you do this, your unban request will be denied and members from all corners of the earth will undoubtedly reply to your post with unimaginable insults.Regarding the admin that banned youIf you know the admin that banned you, mention it in the post, but
DO NOT, under
ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, call them out for "admin abuse", insult them or otherwise disrespect them in the post -- doing that makes it very easy for the people in charge to simply deny your request and lock the thread.
Format of unban requestThere is a standardized format that should be used for all unban requests. It's outlined below. Feel free to provide more information, but providing less will just get you a reply asking you to follow the correct format.
Unban Request Format:
1. In-game alias
2. Steam ID
3. Time/date of the ban
4. Server where ban occurred
5. Who banned you?
6. What were you banned for?
7. Comments:
...beware: flaming admins will probably not help your cause.
IF YOU ARE NOT THE PERSON MAKING THE THREAD, DO NOT REPLY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Your reply will be deleted, and forum bans may be handed out. After your unban requestYour unban request will be handled by the HNIC or the Elders (see
n00bfest Administrative Staff). The process involves reviewing the ban post posted by the banning admin, reviewing any demos recorded and talking with the admin who banned you as well as other players on the server. This process will take a few days. Sometimes the people in charge of reviewing the ban will post updates as to the status of the review, sometimes they won't -- sit tight. If you haven't heard anything in 48 hours or so, post a followup, but don't bump the thread in 30 minutes expecting to be unbanned. When the decision is made it will be posted in the thread, and the thread locked. If your unban request is unsuccessful, its the end of the road for you here at n00bfest, don't make things worse by posting new threads going crazy.
Suggestion code to post in response to an incorrect unban requestCode:
Please follow the correct format for an unban request (outlined here) and post it in the Unban Request Forum. Thanks.
