I know I'm not in n00b so I wasn't sure if it was cool to post here. lol. I don't know if it's been done before or if it's not being done because it's a pain in the ass but I figured I would just ask. Is there any way we could implement a server side script similar to ESEA that will supply team randomization/normal teams and give mapvote options so we don't all argue in team chat for an hour about teams and maps prior to scrimming? It's nice to be able to just go in queue up and start scrimming without all the middle bullshit that ensues. Makes the process a little more painless for everyone. Thank you! :> ♥ |

It's not a n00b scrim if it doesn't take 30min to start but ya it does get very annoying waiting for everyone. |

There are mods out there for this, but you have to install a few plugins that would put a little more pressure on the server that it doesn't need in it's current 1 foot in the grave state. |

I've brought this up before and it didn't really get anywhere. Has anyone tried the warmod that's now included with zBlock? I haven't had a chance to see what it even does. |

The added stress is a completely valid point. I honestly didn't even think about that. |

I AM A HOMOSEXUAL at Spyda we rent a box, not servers. Our box already has trouble housing our main plus externals. Imo main > scrim. We could nix a scrim server however. I'd be cool with that. |

You guys say you have a quad core system if i remember right a q9xxx i forgot what one, with 8gb of ram... Why cant it handle the load of the servers? A clan I used to play with had a similar set up and were running 3 public servers (one 32slot 66tick, one 20 slot 100tick, a 20slot 66tick with fun maps) and a private 100tick 12slot server, they all ran smooth as butter. are you sure your getting everything right? like getting something to bost the fps (there are plugins to do it, i used to run a movie then pause it on my clans private server when GTX was in cal-o), and not setting the fps too high or too low. Also what sort of connection is it on? is it in a nice datacenter with a lan connection or a good oc line? or is it in some small place that has like a t1 line coming into it? there are many factors to what makes a server run like it is, but from what ive heard about this server, the way its running right now dosnt make sense. |

The scrim servers intentionally don't have plugins (but now they have zblock). This is to keep them clean from clutter and avoid problems they could cause in league play, etc. You guys can look into warmode, but a random sort is a pretty bad idea in my opinion given the huge range of skill levels of the scrimmers. My bet is that it would take 3 or 4 randomizations *on average* for it to come up with a team people agreed was relatively fair. EDIT: I thought about doing this as part of source-tools -- and adding to it the ability to *try* to balance teams through the use of pstats data, but it'd be a ton of work and I'm not even sure it would work that well compared to simply picking teams. |

Allowing for certain people who have been entrusted with rcon to utilize warmode when it is agreeable to the specific situation would be a good compromise. |

The server that runs our counter-strike servers is at about 12-20% utilization, btw. No shit? CPU utilization at peak hours, yeah. When the main is full, it only uses about 4-8% of the RAM in the system (less than a gig). It's not a hardware issue. It's a software/configuration or engine issue, but support for the source dedicated server application is so terrible that it's hard to get any sort of real diagnosis. At the end of the day, people are going to bitch about registry no matter how good the server is -- it's an easy cop-out compared to "damn, I guess I just suck @ CS." |

So that's it? Half the community is telling us that the server doesnt reg for shit. But we're all covering up for the fact we suck at cs:s? LOL |

Most of the time "OMG THAT WAS ON HIM!" it wasn't, but when pings start going up and people chop around the server or it starts to glitch out with sprites dropping/displaced and models gliding, that sucks. I remember fomenta talking about a kernel switch, did that happen yet? |
